Who is our next Captain? (self.reddevils)

Who do you guys think our next Captain would be? I don't think Rooney is still gonna be our Captain next season. Jose loved him but that was a few years ago when he was one of the best player in Pl. If David stays, I hope he will be our next Captain. What do you guys think?

Why would he strip rooney of the captaincy? Doesn't make too much sense to alter that.

If it's not Rooney, Smalling.

Although, I don't see anyone else being made captain as long as Rooney is around. He's already the captain, so I don't think Mourinho will strip him of it. Not to mention, he will be the most senior player at the club (if Carrick leaves).

Absolutely not. Rooney is and will be our captain. Noone is more passionate, driven and enjoys the amount of widespread respect as much as he does.

Wayne Rooney will be England and Manchester United captain until he retires.

He is a model professional in his latter years now.

Makes no sense. I'm sure Jose still holds rooney in high regard as he did try to buy him a few years ago. I don't think he'd rock the boat in such a strange way when there aren't clearly better captains on the team.

I could see Smalling being named after Rooney. He has stepped up his game, is still fairly young, and has been with the club for a while. He seems like a good leader.
