https://twitter.com/bbcsport_david/status/734666485667336192 LMA lawyer Paul Gilroy QC arrives @ Carrington but turned away by security. Employment barrister acted for Moyes too

A mega thread? OK, so...I wanted ask, with Jose coming in, what people think about LVG or Giggs or u/PedanticPat maybe moving into a director of football role or something to do with youth development. Is that suitable for here or should I create a new thread? I'll do both just to be sure.

If Pat takes a DoF roll then I would hire /u/MonsieurRyan and /u/Rdzzl for the Head Youth Develoopment and Academy Coaching.

In all seriousness, I suspect any hope of LVG hanging about was ruined Saturday night.

They know the team, the United way, it would be a shame to lose that

Put me in charge of website/social media/games and keep me faaaaar away from footballing decisions lol.

Pat, when you're in charge, put me in on cleaning duty. I promise not to miss a fake bomb in the bathroom

Giggs wouldn't have the experience for those roles & I think he wants to move into management, or at least be an assistant for a while longer.

LVG will go & relax with his wife, the way all this has been handled I highly doubt he'd want to work with our board any longer.

Pat might have a chance.

I've read somewhere that Mourinho likes to have someone around, who knows the club well, so I guess he could opt for keeping Giggs around. As for Giggs, I think he might not want to stay, though it would certainly a great opportunity for him to stick around for a year to learn from Mourinho too - this would also benefit the club, so it seems to me the most optimal solution. Obviously, the people involved will decide and may have a completely different opinion, but as I see if Giggs would stay for a year before going into management somewhere else, he would have learned from SAF during his playing time, from Moyes (learning from his mistakes is also something), from LVG as his assistant, and then Mourinho. That would certainly be a pretty solid basis to build on.

Jorge Mendes is the new director of football

I mean this sincerely: Good

Why do you think that would be good?

Mourinho is apparently 'furious' that Mendes has led this leak so close to the final, as he see's LVG as a mentor and close friend.

That is a great point actually, I wonder how Mourinho has felt over these last few months, especially if an agreement was already in place.

Is there a source for this?

It was a series of tweets from a few of the people reporting it. Should be one near the sub front page still.

[–]Pint_Of_BitterIrwin 2ポイント3ポイント  (0子コメント)

BBC's Dan Roan

After their mishandling of the Moyes sacking, United said they'd learn lessons. Sadly for all concerned, LVG exit appears even worse.

Make of that what you will.

LVG bought and brought through a great team for Jose to make into champions.

Van Gaal played frustrating football, but we should always be thankful for his ability to spot and nurture talent.

FA Cup champions, ending on a high.

[–]doesnt_like_pantsHerrera 2ポイント3ポイント  (0子コメント)

I lot of people (I'm not one of them) feel like LvG hasn't made many good buys and that the squad isn't good enough.

I genuinely feel like Mou has a good foundation to work with and that his counter-attacking style will suit a good number of players more than LvG's system. He should be able to elevate the current players we have, as he has done in the past with other teams/players.

[–]AJMcCoy612The Special Juan 6

The way I see it:

  • Van Gaal laid the foundations.

  • Mourinho is going to build the house.

  • Giggs is going to live in it.

Yeah, remember when that fairy tale had a pep in it? Let's see how it goes.

[–]AJMcCoy612The Special Juan 2

Pep should have stayed at Barcelona in my opinion. He would have eclipsed Sir Alex and then some, he would have been immortal at his childhood team.

I think Pep will have a rude awakening at City next season. EPL is way more competing league than La Liga and Bundesliga.

His started to have serious stress issues at Barca. Wouldn't be surprised if he goes back, but only once the players who were there before are gone.

[–]AJMcCoy612The Special Juan 1

Yeah the before and after pictures of him managing Barcelona are scary.

Don't agree that LVG laid the foundation. On the contrary, he pretty much shacked players' attacking mindset. Possession means nothing if we just backward - we are number one team in EPL in terms of number of backward passes.

If Mou is successful you just know everyone will be saying LVG laid the foundations despite probably having a different set of key players, signings and a completely different style of play.

If it was Mendes who leaked the news to the bbc I have lost any respect I had for him (which wasn't much). LVG deserved more respect than to be treated like that.

Hope there's some truth behind these transfer rumours that have come out.

[–]Pigeon_AssholeBlind's Sexy Hair 1

I've spent over £20 so far on roaming charges trying to see if it's happened yet!

Won't happen until at least 12. Probably best to come back at 1pm instead.

  • The public announcements are expected to be made tomorrow (Tuesday), where Ed Woodward should announce the Retirement of Van Gaal and inform the media and fans that Mourinho is to take over from June 1st.

Do you mean in terms of leaving the club, or is the rumour that he will retire? Very excited about Mou but I can't help but feel sorry for Louis with how this has all gone down.

He said this would be his last job when he joined us

Anyone knows anything about LMA lawyer? He just arrived at Carrington. https://twitter.com/bbcsport_david/status/734667338281328640

League Managers Association. Basically the Union for Managers. Not unusual for them to show up after a season as they usually ensure bonus payments are organised and met, but they can do that anytime. Him arriving today could be a heavy indicator that we're now pushing through a compensation package.

[–]Pint_Of_BitterIrwin 1ポイント2ポイント  (0子コメント)

Same QC that dealt with the Moyes departure and contract termination too.

Cannot wait. I know it may end in tears but the ride will be worth it and, OMG, fucking Mourinho.

He's coveted this position for ages, I don't think he's going to go into this job as harsh as some of the others. He knows the English press inside-out, people at the club aren't poisonous like at Real, he's got enough money to cure world hunger, and he's sitting on the tallest throne in the land.

If he brings his A game and adds a bit of class in his dealings, he'll have everyone related to MUFC eating out the palms of his hands.

Is Jorge pronounced Hor-hay or George?

It will probably work out exactly like this with a shit ton of speculation and transfer rumours to come. We will probably be linked heavily with every Mendes client and everyone who has worked with Mourinho in the past

The foundation has been laid, the blueprint is ready. JM's gonna build a fortress that hopefully, shall not crumble!

Supposedly Wayne Rooney is the source of yesterday's articles about LVG, emails and all.

[–]welbzyThe Ghost of Welbeck

Rooney knows how to use email?

Really? According to who?

Hope Jose is a changed man when he takes over this job. I don't want to see any disgraceful stuff from him, but something tells me we'll be seeing that in plenty.
Oh, and please don't park the bus at Old Trafford, have some shame.

If all these reports of Giggs being butthurt about being passed over for the job and him threatening to leave are true then he can fuck off. He's not entitled the job when he's never managed a team ever.
