Room full of men - obviously they were just the highest qualified.

Room full of women - diversity hire [slurs]

It doesn't amaze me anymore that this type of casual sexism exists. Also BPT is a fucking cesspool

Edit: also..do they really think no men work at HuffPo? Like come on, any amount of critical thinking would say that's fucking stupid.

Room with half women, half men - this room is full of women, diversity hire [slurs]

Not even. Room with all men except one woman - diversity hire [slurs]

and a couple of token Asians

That's great, reddit. You suddenly """care""" about diversity but in the same fucking sentence refer to other minorities on staff as tokenism. Fuck off with your disingenuous bullshit

The other weird thing is that all these chicks are in the 4-6 range as well.

Yet still these are the folks complaining about diversity

ugh

i though blackpeopletwitter was one of the few decent places on here because they had mods that didn't care about frozen peaches if not for the content, but that can come all crashing down in an instant when the "WHAT ABOUT LE MEN" crowd comes in

fuk u /u/GallowBoob

also can somebody link me to that study that says that men are more likely to see a room full of men as equal, while a room about 50% men and 50% other genders is seen as discrimination

It was done by the Geena Davis Institute, so I'd start looking there.

It's a bunch of young white guys speaking what they think is ebonics, they get salty when jokes about white people are made. The mods are cool but the sub is still shit.

[–]Tim_Thomas 4ポイント5ポイント  (0子コメント)

i naively wanted to believe that sub was criticizing it because there being no black women on the staff and it being a majority white women but of course i didnt read the comments which i guess i shouldve left it that way

Now they care about diversity.

Somehow they manage to take a legit criticism (that Huff Post doesn't have any black or obviously latin american editors) and make it about the mens!

That's actually not a legit criticism. That table isn't even remotely the entire editing staff. There are at least 6 Black editors at HuffPo. They just weren't at this meeting, and neither were any men.

That was the joke in the first place. The only people who showed up for the editors meeting were women, so they did a "girl power" tweet.

You are correct, I think the assumption that drove the reddit hate though was that this was the whole editing staff, and that there were no men there (which is also wrong they do have male editors).

As usual, Reddit can't google. And in this case, they couldn't even look at a damn photograph. Most of the ragers tried to say all the women in the photo are white.

You'd think a population that prides itself on being 'sciency' and 'web aware' and 'computer savvy' would be able to open up a web browser tab and actually look at the Huffpo editing staff, but apparently not. Instead they're just purely emotionally-driven outrage reactionaries.

If anyone is wondering why reddit has a sudden fascination with this particular editor from HuffPo--it's because power user /u/GallowBoob has decided to have a Twitter fight with her and he's manipulating reddit because he knows they are always looking for a new woman to hate.

"Nothing is stopping women and minorities from making things but when they do and hire other women/minorities instead of white men I'm going to cry about sexism"
