Thought I'd show some love for our Captain on the day of his first FA Cup victory.

Amongst the top-10 players that have ever played for United, without doubt a true legend. I rank him above Ronaldo, but that's just my personal opinion. :)

I agree, Ronaldo is a better player but with regards to who was/is a better player for Utd it's Rooney.

I mean, in terms of abilities @ age 20, they had a similar world class potential, but if Rooney would have gotten the same support that Ronaldo did, then he could have reached Ronaldo's current level.

It's not about support, it's about work ethic in training and off the field.

Not to say Rooney is super lazy, he's not.

But Ronaldo is equally talented and several levels above in work ethic and Messi is basically a savant sent to earth to make professional footballers look shit at their jobs

I mean, it's hard to think of a footballer who puts in the same degree of work as Ronaldo. Rooney could have a phenomenal work ethic and still be below Ronaldo in that.

I'd definitely have him above Ronaldo in terms of United players.

Ronaldo as good as he was only had 2 amazing seasons and one very good season at United.

I'd place him above Ronaldo too, Ronaldo was the best United player I have ever seen but Rooney has been here longer and looks like staying for a few more years

Rooney in the beginning of his career was as talented as Ronaldo or Messi but he's been a team player through and through ready to give his all at any position . For that reason I rate him as the player of the generation for me.

Iniesta has been better than Rooney as well from that generation. Can definitely make a case for Robben and Zlatan too

Sorry but at the time Rooney was rated higher than Ronaldo in their youth. Obviously Ronaldo has gone on to be one of the best of all time but he wasn't above Rooney back in 2005.
