The first image brings you to the Imgur page, the second brings you directly to the image. Some mobile devices might correct for the first one to show just the image, but some load the whole page, which probably includes Imgur's annoying "PLEASE DOWNLOAD OUR APP" pop-up.

Plus, uses more data. That's why it's a little annoying when people don't link directly to the image. I do, but others don't have unlimited data.

It's kind of disgusting now how whenever I'm not doing anything I reach for my phone to check Reddit. It's an impulse to fill the empty time in between doing things which I'm not sure is entirely healthy

Yeah, I do that too. I feel like I can't just sit doing nothing for even a few seconds. I check Reddit almost constantly when I'm doing doing anything else. It's a really bad habit I should break.

Sometimes I'll reach for my phone and catch myself, and deliberately leave it alone. Maybe it doesn't matter but I feel like it's kind of unnatural or something, like it feels wrong

I believe it depends on the app. I'd I load it in Reddit is fun it goes to the direct image, but if I load it in chrome it shows the imgur page. I assume RiF automatically changes imgur URLs to direct links when it can.
