Hah! That was my thread. I found the whole journey from creation to deletion hilarious! Let me find some screenshots.

This whole drama is because some of the moderators absolutely refuse to listen to the community's members about anything. This is a great representation of the top mods.

It's utterly annoying. The community can't do anything about it. /r/SubredditRequest won't care because the mods are "active" no matter how bad they one of them is.
Many attempts have been made to redirect /r/Seattle's community into more democratic subreddits, but it never works out. Too much branching.

Truly, careless (hehe) moderators will have the /r/Seattle subreddit for as long as Reddit exists, and that's pretty sad.

It appears that I'm shadowbanned because of this thread now.

Aw, I'm sorry. :( If it makes you feel better, I probably am too. I don't know how to check, though.

It's no big deal. Just thought that I'd mention it here since this is how reddit cancer works.

I just checked to see if my helpful comment about motorcycle parking here was visible if I wasn't logged in.

It's not.

Edit: for the recent downmodding brigade, just this posting of mine in /r/seattle was approved a couple of days later.

I ended up starting a undelete community for Seattle using some botcode from /r/undeleteShadow.

It's /r/undeleteseattle

Inception thread here

The seattle-focused circlejerk community, /r/circlejerkseattle/ has some threads to get you up to speed in their sidebar if you, for some strange reason, care. People tend not to care. You could say that most people care less than one might expect.

Edit: I should likely mention that mentioning the aforementioned circlejerk community, alternative local seattle communities like /r/SeattleWA, and likely other keywords, gets you autoremoved/banned/shadowbanned via /u/automoderator, so you might not want to do that should you choose to post in /r/seattle threads.

Haaaaaaa!

Wednesday - Sunset Pictures and Lost Pets at Kerry Park
Thursday - Find me a job that isn't Amazon or Microsoft

These made me laugh.

Another good recent example of them deleting huge threads is this one:

[–]eggpl4nt 4ポイント5ポイント  (1子コメント)

Wait, are you serious? They deleted that one?

I actually commented on that one, hah. I thought OP deleted it himself out of embarrassment or something?

Welcome to /r/Seattle

All the /r/Seattle drama just baffles me. Like, what is the point? Why not allow events? Why be so protective that you're threatened enough to automoderate references to a circlejerk subreddit? Why do they want to be mods or even care about the power? It's a fucking city/area subreddit. Do they want a nice, easy source of pictures of sunsets? Are they like, real estate agents that own a bunch of land in Seattle and are desperately trying to dispel the image of Seattle being rainy so that all the Californians try to come up here and the price of land skyrockets?
Seriously, what's the purpose and the motivation? Why even care enough to put in the effort to be corrupt here?

Sounds like you have a good handle on it.

From my interactions, their cancer is so internalized, their persecution complex so dear, their drive to stamp out all diversity of opinion and any possible conflict so important, and their zealotry so complete, that the possibility that they're doing it wrong is impossible.

Their best intentions while failing utterly at their goals is both the most buttery and most tragic part of this, I'm convinced, very diagnosable mental affliction.

Also it's mostly foreign investment driving the coastal real estate up now. Californians was a 90s thing if one relies on facts. People will tell you that, now, it's Amazon that's to blame, but millions of people live here. It's another weird hipster anarchist scapegoat. /r/Seattle loves them.

Basically if it happened on Portlandia, it's happening on Capitol Hill right now.

The deleted comment in this thread was a user who made their own Seattle subreddit. Mods don't like other Seattle subreddits, must delete ASAP!  One of my comments talking about how moderators delete comments mentioning other Seattles subreddits was also removed. Joy.

That was my comment and I had no idea it was deleted until just now! Here is the comment:

I just started a subreddit last week, /r/SeattleProper, that allows for event posts. Please try to keep those events within city limits, however. You're welcome to join us as we grow the sub.

In my mind the two subs can exist side-by-side, where /r/Seattle serves the greater community on a regional level (which it already does) and /r/SeattleProper is specific to events and things happening within city limits.

I'm pretty disappointed the comment was deleted.

But not surprised at all.

Hey, glad to see you reposted your comment!

NO NEVER ABSOLUTELY NOT!! Apparently even subreddits like /r/SeattlePhotos or something are removed from /r/Seattle as well. Like the fuck? What do you mods gain from having everything conglomerated into /r/Seattle? They act like they get paid for this or some shit.

They have a big thing in the sidebar about advertising on the subreddit, so I do believe the mods are trying to cash in on it.

Also, thanks for /r/SeattlePhotos. I had /r/SeattleITAP but not /r/SeattlePhotos, so I will add it to the subreddit sidebar! These are great!

Yeah they have to protect their toxic brand.

Everyone starts a new Seattle subreddit and then no one uses it because no one can find them.

This has been beaten to death repeatedly. /r/seattle mods are not welcome at /r/seattle meetups.

Here's a colossal megathread about how they delete everything put together by /u/charlesgrodinfan.

/r/seattle[1] mods are not welcome at /r/seattle[2] meetups.

Haha is that true?

Back when this was fresh and interesting to me, I took an informal census. I have rarely encountered any outgroup that is so universally disdained so completely by any internet community. Everyone has their own discovery process of these guys.

Of course they would classify this as intolerance, but really...

I feel kind of silly for ever giving two shits about the whole mess.

I'm glad I live in Portland. The /r/Portland mods are awesome.

[–]INSIDIOUS_ROOT_BEER 1ポイント2ポイント  (1子コメント)

Make sure when you drop by there to ask /u/tuber when he is going to return /r/atheism to /u/seen.

I have no idea what any of that means or what it has to do with my comment.
