/r/Seattle moderators maintain a "moderation log" called /r/SeattleTransparency - It doesn't list Automoderator shadowbans or "shadowremoved" comments. (self.subredditcancer)

It's no major secret that the /r/Seattle mods, in particular /u/careless, like to "curate" the subreddit with a very liberal hand.

So, in response to concerns about this, they apparently had a change of heart about moderation logs and started this subreddit, /r/SeattleTransparency

Except I frequently see (my own) comments being removed without appearing in that log. A couple of times I've called them out for it, and my comments mysteriously reappear. They similarly tried to shadowban me once.

To see an example of a "shadowbanned" comment look at the first comment appearing after this submission in my profile. I know from experience that the only reason this will appear in /r/SeattleTransparency is if /u/careless sees this post.

As an aside, auditing the log in general is difficult because they apparently "remove" the comments by editing them/styling them away/not sure.

Example. If you go look for this comment in an undelete service, it looks like it's only been edited.

Oh, by the way, just naming /r/circlejerkseattle in /r/seattle (or naming multiple competing subs except the ones started by some user named /u/pretendperson -- weird) will get the comment removed by AutoModerator. Take a wild guess if that appears in /r/SeattleTransparency. Many subscribers there claim to be shadowbanned via AutoModerator as well.

Proof that they can and will use AutoModerator to shadowban people in general.

It probably bears mentioning that /u/careless is the moderator who removed posts about Glenn Greenwald speaking in Seattle, left another moderator to defend the decision by himself all weekend saying he doesn't know who Glenn Greenwald is, and then made a big officious post where he pretends he doesn't just remove whatever he feels like anyway.

TL;DR /r/Seattle maintains a fake moderation log and then just uses AutoModerator and shadowbans to silently remove content they don't like.

The worst part is that no one would even care if they didn't maintain one... But to maintain one and keep stuff off the log? That's worse than not doing one at all

I used to run an undelete bot that required a lot of manual help at the height of their loud mental illness. It published to /r/undeleteseattle

If one of the people who hasn't been banned from reddit with a working undelete bot would like to track /r/seattle and publish there, that would be cool.

I'm just not very invested in reddit and it's raving unselfaware lunatics anymore.

Hate to break it to you, but removal posts for logging is a toolbox feature, there just isn't any automoderator support for it.
