Ashley Young hopes FA Cup success on Saturday will save what he has described as a disappointing season for Manchester United.

United take on Crystal Palace at Wembley 12 years after last winning the trophy and a week after failing to qualify for next season's Champions League.

The rise of Rashford

Just how good is the man who has burst onto the scene this season

But with Marcus Rashford looking to underline his claims for a place in the England squad at Euro 2016 this summer this weekend, Young believes the stage is set for a 12th FA Cup success.

Young told Sky Sports News HQ: "Obviously for a club like ours not winning the title or fighting for the title is disappointing. The FA Cup is a massive competition and we have not won it for a number of years. We are not looking to play the occasion. We are looking to play the game and go there and win the trophy.

"As a team you want to go out and express yourself and get the fans off their seats. At times this season it has happened, at other times it hasn't, it has been one of those seasons. Hopefully come Saturday we can get our hands on that trophy."

United's lost talent

The late Adrian Doherty is Man Utd's forgotten star. Biographer Oliver Kay talks to Sky Sports...

Marcus Rashford has been one of the shining lights at Old Trafford during a difficult season and Young is convinced that the United prodigy - who has eight goals in 17 appearances - can go on the become a star on the global stage.

He said: "He has done fantastically well, it's early stages yet but he's one of those kids who wants to learn from the older players and wants to make the most of the ability and talent that he has been blessed with.

"He wants to score goals but he's quick he can hold the ball up and and he can finish; he's got everything. He has definitely got a big future ahead of him.

The real talent factory?

Fletcher Moss Rangers have produced a host of Man Utd stars. So shouldn't they get help?

"He's got his feet on the floor. His family and coaches have helped him with that. He feels part of the squad. When you first come in it can be a daunting task for a young lad but he has done his talking on the pitch."
