You remembered me! Thank you!
Yes, I was surprised to see that come up months later on
r/politics- I'm a far more prolific Redditor but I use this as my work account. I go to relevant subs during breaking political events because things are often well tracked by relevant subs.
We actually conferred for days about how to handle questions about the events in Nevada; truthfully, it was daunting after the hate mail I received for weeks after the Huerta controversy (even though she debunked it)!
I started with the chair because it was coming in as a discrete question, those are easier to unpack. We discussed doing a linear side-by-side of what went down, but the reports were too conflicting. And to start, the chair seemed to be the most symbolic claim. And it was easy to locate the thread of the shoddy reporting all the way back.
We aren't opposed to looking into irregularities and multiple questions about the same event, but a problem with fact checking the other claims is that corroboration would be likely to come from NVDems, they haven't been responsive, and they'll likely stick to their story. Locating information to substantiate objections would be more difficult.
It's funny, this time no one is complaining that I'm anti-Hillary, and some people are saying this is surprising since
we're
pro-Hillary :/ but it isn't a real workday until I get accused of shilling for three conflicting entities.
TBH a lot of the election reporting I've seen has been disappointing, my lowpoint was watching Chris Matthews repeat conjecture over and over during a primetime primary event. We welcome tips, so please ping us! We can't always get a satisfactory read on a rumor, but we also often look for topics and aren't opposed to any.
Thank you :)
