She was a violent pro-black terrorist and she has praised people like Mao, Marx and of course Osama Bin Laden... in 2003.
Spit on her and all she believes in.

Google celebrating and promoting a domestic terrorist? I know she aligns with the Marxist visions y'all have for this country, but this is truly reprehensible.

I got banned from /r/asianamerican for pointing this out. Got a mod who also thinks the US is a terrorist and racist nation but couldn't stand to debate and muted me from even calling them out for doing the very thing they are complaining about.
People who are raising up this woman have their heads screwed on wrong. I noticed they also run for the hills when you call them out on it.

All that social justice in the 21st century does is create a vacuum that gets filled by hateful right wing groups. If they truly wanted liberal values to be emphasized, they would honor innocent until proven guilty instead of listen and believe. If they truly wanted liberal values, we would have free speech for everyone, not kicking journalists out of public colleges. If they truly wanted liberal values, we would be talking about how we can help women in Ethiopia and Saudi Arabia, not the new fucking Ghostbusters movie.
Social Justice Warriors would like to have you believe that they speak for and represent minorities and marginalized groups. But they don't. They don't represent what feminism used to be about (in the 1920s). They don't want equal footing. They want supremacy.
Want proof? Look at any anti-white male articles on any clickbait website. Here is one that compares being white to being a difficulty setting, as if this is something you can change
If these SJWs want feminism and equality, why must they bash the majority group to appease the minority group? It's just a tad bit thin skinned on their part.

I have always overlooked the politics when using Google services. I rationalized it and decided the convenience was worth it. But putting this extremist on the front page and glorifying her unabashed support for terrorists is easily enough to convince me to no longer support Google.
I know, canceling my account will do nothing. But knowing I am no longer personally supporting this kind of garbage will be satisfying enough.

Considering you use that sub a lot, I kinda doubt that that's a coincidence.
That's exactly what I was fearing. I woke up this morning and looked at the Google front page. I saw asian lady with the words equality behind her. I clicked on the doodle and read her wikipedia page. Then I was horrified. You can choose to believe me or not, but that's what happened.

And that's terrible. But when a story is as polarizing as this one, people are going to look on more than one subreddit. As long as people follow reddiquette, it should be fine. Trolls and shitheads should be banned.
EDIT: No Idea who is mass downvoting me, but it is pretty LUL to think someone thinks internet points matter.

How can Americans support Google when they openly display their colors like this. God fucking forbid those scumbags acknowledge Easter on their doodle. I really hope Americans wake up from their white guilt induced haze. Something tells me the upcoming election will be a great first step to making America Great Again. Fuck google.

AFAIK the main issue is that google wants to have about 50/50 female - male representation of these people they honor. Since there aren't as many females due to historical reasons they end up with some nutbags that fell through the cracks in the vetting process.

Not that I don't get the point you are trying to make, but at least include the last bit from the bio page if you are going to link the rest of the wiki article....
In 2005, Kochiyama was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize through the “1,000 Women for the Nobel Peace Prize 2005” project.[18] In a lifetime of community service starting in her hometown of San Pedro, California, Yuri also taught English to immigrant students and volunteered at soup kitchens and homeless shelters in New York City. Yuri spoke at over 100 high schools and colleges in at least 15 states and Canada, including Harvard, Radcliffe, Yale, Princeton, Spelman, Temple, UMass/Amherst, New York University, UC Berkeley, and San Francisco State University. In 2010, she received an Honorary Doctorate Degree from California State University, East Bay. In Debbie Allen’s television series Cool Women (2001), Yuri stated, “The legacy I would like to leave is that people try to build bridges and not walls.”
Edit: Man you guys are touchy about this. I'm not disagreeing that she's not worthy and a shitty person. I'm just saying, if you want to make a point that she's shitty, don't leave the points out of the article that show people have tried to honor her. It's misleading and pushing a one sided argument...

Nobel Peace prize
Which has also been awarded to people like Big Stick Teddy and Drone Strike Obama. Wow. What a glowing recommendation. I guess that totally invalidates a lifetime of completely indisputable advocacy for terrorists and murderers.

So building bombs instead?
I’m glad that you are curious why I consider Osama bin Laden as one of the people that I admire. To me, he is in the category of Malcolm X, Che Guevara, Patrice Lumumba, Fidel Castro, all leaders that I admire. They had much in common. Besides being strong leaders who brought consciousness to their people, they all had severe dislike for the US government and those who held power in the US. I think all of them felt the US government and its spokesmen were all arrogant, racist, hypocritical, self-righteous, and power hungry.
You stated that some freedom fighters responded that bin Laden’s agenda is more reactionary and does not speak to the needs of the masses of people who exist under US dominance. bin Laden has been primarily fighting US dominance even when he received money from the US when he was fighting in Afghanistan. He was fighting for Islam and all people who believe in Islam, against westerners, especially the US--even when he was fighting against the Russians…I do not care what the US government or Americans feel--I think it’s shameful what this government has done from the beginning of its racist, loathsome history.
The USA has its own faults, but this woman is not someone that should be honored by Google. She made these comments in 2003, after 9/11. She was batshit crazy.

It's classic doublespeak. The only quotes from her being bantered around are vague and inspirational but when you look at her actions she was a wannabe Baader-Meinhof terrorist.

Does any of that really matter if the rest is true? Nominating her for the Nobel Peace Prize does nothing to erase the fact that she is an admirer of one of the biggest terrorists in history and has personally supported other violent extremists.

The point is to talk about the very crappy views she has. There is no need to talk about her accomplishments because her single viewpoints are so bad that they stand on their own and are reprehensible on their own. Osama Bin Laden and Alqueda I'm pretty sure found a few decent things to do in their existance. Do I have to point that out when I talk about how horrible their terrorist acts are? No, of course I don't. The issue is the bad things shes done, she cant make up for that by making speeches or getting a nobel participation prize.

So, honest question, if Google put someone like, lets say Donald Trump, in a glowing Doodle, do you feel like the outraged posts that would follow should also include mention of all the charities he has donated to (or whatever)?
My point being, everyone has SOME good things that they have done. Is it expected that Bin Laden have his positive attributes listed in posts decrying his existence? Hitler did some great things too, according to some people (no, not saying she is as bad as Hitler, just using it as an extreme example). Is it one sided to not mention them when people rip him?

Her background Google highlights when you click the doodle is:
Yuri Kochiyama was a Japanese American human rights activist. She is notable as one of the few prominent non-black black separatists. Influenced by Marxism, Maoism, and the thoughts of Malcolm X, she was an advocate for many revolutionary movements.
Re/code explains OP's overreaction and the /r/the_donald brigade (just stirring shit up) pretty well:
Because the internet is often a great place for amplifying amateur observations and because Wikipedia lacks context and because it's one of the most divisive election seasons ever, today's Google Doodle celebrating the life of civil rights activist Yuri Kochiyama turned into a thing.
Some internet people said Google was celebrating a radical. Indeed, Kochiyama's Wikipedia entry cites her as "one of the few prominent non-black Black separatists....Influenced by Marxism, Maoism, and the thoughts of Malcolm X."
Couple this with conservatives blasting Facebook for its left-leaning bias and you have what amounts to a typically tone-deaf move from a Silicon Valley giant, or larger evidence of a socialist conspiracy.
Anyone who had worked with Kochiyama knows these characterizations are wrong.
When I was in my early 20s and being a good Asian American, meaning I attended meetings at college, I met Kochiyama maybe a half dozen times. She did work with Malcolm X — he died in her arms — and well into her old age she continued to fight for people of color. She held closely to the causes Malcolm X fought for later in his life, a focus on human rights, not just black rights. She lived in a Japanese internment camp during WWII so she knew something about that.

Innocent white civilian noncombatants were oppressors when they burned to death in two airplanes and some office buildings? I guess they were benefitting from a systematic institutionalized patriarchal network of privilege, so they deserved it, huh? Well what about the innocent black, asian, hispanic, jewish, etc. civilian noncombatants who also died? I guess they were collateral damage. After all, while there are no bad tactics and only bad targets, the goals of Revolution usually have to run over some of the Little People. That's what people like bin Laden, Castro, Guevara, etc. all thought; keep in mind she said in her own words she admired them. She wasn't fighting for equality, she was a violent extremist separatist, and an advocate for real, actual terrorism.
