so a woman is approached online by a "porn recruiter" and has a conversation with them? then agrees to meet them in person at their house? then voluntarily drinks alcohol until they black out? ...and then is molested.... Well, yes that's terrible and that "recruiter" is a sleazy criminal. BUT COME ON ladies... let's make some smarter decisions and avoid situations like this in the first place.

Crimes perpetrated on people with poor judgement are still crimes.
That would be why I called it criminal. Thanks for agreeing with me.

yes they are. But the stupidity of these victims should probably be criminal too.
Hope you never make a mistake that ends up costing you. Ignorance of a crime is not an excuse they say.
[–]NonerBonerCapitol Hill[S] 53
I made a comment regarding this in the other post:
Of course, common sense should prevail, but regardless...being naive shouldn't be deserving of assault, you know? Though it may be the outcome, it doesn't make it any less skeevy or wrong.
I didn't say it was deserved. I did call it sleazy. Soooo thanks for agreeing with me?
Your stupidity is in equating anyone who does porn as "sleazy." The porn industry is a billion dollar business in the States and is run, by and large, by people with more ethics that those in many "acceptable" businesses.
No, he called the guy doing this a sleazy criminal. Can we not call rapists sleazy?
That's not at all what he said.
victim blaming still alive and well. EDIT: Drinking alcohol until you black out is not easy. If he got twelve girls to blackout, it sounds more like rohypnol.
Is this victim blaming? I mean they are kind of juggling knives here.. I think rape us fucked up, but this specific circumstances gets into a lot of Grey areas.
A girl answers a similar ad, meets the guy, has a few drinks, makes a porn, and consents to everything that happens. She leaves and goes on with her life. Is there anything to blame her for in this scenario? No, because without a transgression/crime, there is no blame. The only difference between this girl, and the girls this post is about is circumstance. The girls posted about are no different than the girl in my hypothetical, and deserve the same amount of blame. Moreover, blaming the victim inherently takes away blame from the perp, which is wrong-headed. Is he any better than a guy who rapes an unsuspecting bystander? Victim blaming discourages victims from coming forward, reduces the guilt of the perp, and often has sexist overtones. So yes, this is victim blaming, and if you entertain it you are juggling knives.
I'd still consider a person stupid if they got an STD by not wearing a condom because the other person said "trust me, I'm clean".
blaming the victim inherently takes away blame from the perp
That's not even remotely true. Sometimes there's plenty of blame to go around.
Which is why defense attorneys never attack the victim's character.

Not circumstance. Suspected circumstance. You weren't there and we are only hearing one side of the story. What this woman (I'm not going to marginalize them by calling them girls, unless they really are underage) did consent but is now having remorse about what she did so she are lying, or just stretching the truth, about the her circumstances and the circumstances of the other women. None of us can know either way because Reddit isn't set up to investigate crime.
if that is the case, that is totally different. My comments assumed the story was valid. And of course that possibility should be considered, but done so compassionately, because if you start down that line of questioning and it was actually rape, it is very hurtful to the victim to be accused of such things.
This is why the no witch hunt rule exists. It can hurt the victim as well as the perpetrator and we don't even know which one is victim and which one is the perpetrator. Just because you are the first person to post, or have your side of the story posted, to social media doesn't mean that you right. It just means that you are first.

Grey (sic) areas? Seriously? OP posted evidence of multiple felonies being committed. There is no "gray" area here.

Since when is Reddit the method you are supposed to use to contact the police? Since when did Reddit become a court of law?
victim and blame are not exclusive.
Think about what you are saying for a minute. if he hadn't been a perp, and a girl went to a mans house and had a few drinks under the guise of the possibility of making porn, what is she to blame for? The fact that something bad went down is ENTIRELY on the perp. Thinking like this is why victims often do not come forward.
Think about what you're saying for a minute. If she hadn't been seeking sex (what do you think happens in a porn interview), and hadn't gone to an unknown person's house and got drunk, she wouldn't have been assaulted. Victims acting irresponsibly don't excuse the actions of criminals, but being victimized doesn't excuse stunning stupidity either.
Who's to say "black out drunk" means they had lots of drinks, until they blacked out... Or the had one drink that suspiciously got them black out drunk, because it was drugged with something?
It's clearly stated in Washington state law that if either party is under the influence of drugs or alcohol they cannot give consent and thus what that man did was rape.
I don't think he was saying that it wasn't rape.

Yep, you better make damn sure your lover isn't going to turn on you in this scenario. The one where you are a rapist, I mean.

Believe what way? That while there is no excuse for the criminal's actions, when you do stupid shit, shit sometimes happens? I have more news for you. Doing stupid shit has consequences in non-criminal areas of life as well.
I can't believe people think absolutely no one is ever responsible for their own actions. Where do you draw the line? If I jump into a car crusher that has a sign saying jump is that my fault or do we just blame the machine? What if there was no sign telling me to jump in? What if there was no sign, but layers and layers of guardrails and safety cutoffs but somehow I still jumped in? What if there were all the same safety and guardrails and tons of signs saying don't jump in the car crusher? At what point is it just my fault for being an idiot or am I never ever responsible for my own actions?
This is not a case of "she had a short skirt so she was asking for it" this is a case of "there is only so may things we can do to protect idiots from themselves"
Be careful with that metaphor. You are implying that men are unstoppable rape machines. I should be able to sleep without fear of rape, whether I'm in my own bed or an acquaintance's home. The fact that this man thinks it's okay to hurt an unconscious woman is the problem here.
You are implying that men are unstoppable rape machines
No he's not. He's not making any excuses for the criminal at all. He's simply pointing out that it's easy to avoid this kind of thing. All you have to do is not be an idiot.
Except he literally compared them to an unstoppable crushing machine
I guess we are agreed then, crime is going to happen just as reliably as an unstoppable crushing machine crushes things and reasonable precautions should be taken to protect ourselves from both.
You regularly sleep in strangers houses who impersonated a female porn recruiter to get you there and then plied you with booze to the point of being blackout drunk? Well.... I think I see your problem if that's where you choose to sleep.
She clearly didn't choose to sleep if he's managed to get 12 women to black out
If you know this as a fact then you need to contact the police. If you are just repeating something you heard from someone else then it's only hearsay.
I'm not sure why you got so many downvotes. The sentiment of your message and what I would consider "victim blaming" are leagues apart.
Your advice is equivalent to advice like, "don't walk out at night alone in a bad part of town."
People that mug you are thieves. It's not your fault. But there are definitely reasonable steps you can take to minimize your chances of getting mugged.
Advice comes before the fact. Advice after the fact is effectively blame.
Really? If somebody is this level of stupid then they might actually need these things spelled out for them.
Hey I keep getting robbed when I wander around the bad parts of town at night with lots of cash. Maybe stop doing that? Hey, I'm the victim! Stop blaming me!

I got raped.
Were you being a slut?
Nevermind.

This isn't a matter of being a slut. This is a matter of being stupid. There's nothing not suspicious about a random guy offering drinks and auditions for porn at his house.
Being female doesn't excuse stupid behavior.
But don't you see why focusing on the victim directly after the crime is counterproductive to catching the rapist?
Wow, 75 downvotes for you posting one of the most sensible comments in this thread. I'm not even surprised. This subreddit is so weird.
Why let reason and common sense get in the way of meaningless righteous outrage?

I wouldn't even bother. Some people seem to think that a woman with one drink in her shouldn't be held responsible for her own actions in any way. Although a man who is falling down drunk should be held responsible for every thing he says and does.
Everyone is responsible for their actions, whether drunk or sober. Rape is the action, here. The man did it in this case, ergo, he is responsible. She cannot be responsible for his actions, which is what the implication is.
My comment was specifically in response to the person that I was responding to and which was a general comment not about a specific event.
But your comment a great example as to the necessity of the no which hunt rule. Reddit isn't a court of law and shouldn't be use that way. If someone knows of wrong doing they need to report it to the police. Posting the specifics or worse posting hearsay about it to Reddit does no one any good and could cause harm to an innocent person.
