Most of this post will be a copy/paste from a comment I just made in another comments section, because I think it concerns something worth noting in it's own entry. It refers to a (what seems to be) 4chan post linked by a MGTOW in a /r which was in turn linked here.

Jokes aside, I really want to highlight this as I think it's an especially illustrative example of the vile, poisonous, sickening, utterly disgusting heart of so much of the world of online misogyny. This is raw, unfettered misogyny of a potentially dangerous kind. The kind that makes you want to take a moment to make an earnest statement before getting back to the satire.

Simultaneously, it demonstrates a huge chunk of all the irrationality, double-standards and bullshit present in the world of misogyny, all in one post.

Acting like a mind reader: (she does action A, but what she is really thinking is B. And B is something utterly contemptuous and pathetic) (He does action A, and it indicates thought A, which is something wonderful, admirable, and interesting). "Life experience" informs him of all this. Take his word for it.

Her entertainment is pointless and vapid and meaningless, while that of a man is important and esteemed and admirable. By definition (read his definition)

Usage of hypotheticals in order to cast a net over a bunch of potentially real stories that might sound like it fits to other guys. "Hey, my GF has posted on Reddit about her hair too. AWALT!"

Citing single cases (in this case hypotheticals. Not even real) to represent a whole, despite the fact that no such logical connection can be or has been made. (again, take his word for it)

Extreme objectification via the reduction of all woman-kind to a crude and contempt-filled description of her anatomy.

Boundless, utterly massive arrogance, demonstrated not only by the above, but by the adoption of a tone of explaining to women about their own 'nature' as if he is a wise sage of a father teaching his young daughter (while simultaneously hating said daughter). The mindset of a man who believes, without question, he is superior to his fellow human beings, and who has no problem behaving as such.

Blaming women for his hatred of them. Not just by arbitrarily asserting all the irrational claims he's made are true, but by blaming her for her very presence 'fucking ruining everything' about those hypothetical esteemed men's good time.

Men are having a good time. They hate women. Woman comes along and wrecks their good time by existing in their space, because they hate women. Somehow the woman's fault.

One of the key things about posts like this, is that their intended effect hinges upon the receiver already being a misogynist, as it relies on the belief in a man's inherent superiority in various capacities to make sense. The default definitions of what defines 'valid' interests, 'vapid' statements, 'emotional', 'irrational' 'selfish' etc etc. are all predefined such that the bad things only apply to women and men who are not misogynists, and the good things only apply to misogynist men.

It's a high-jacking of portions of the English language which re-purposes a bunch of terms to always fit their worldview, so they can never be wrong.

And that's just a slice of what's going on here. And posts like this, either to this degree of extremity or milder forms of it, are all over the manosphere. Especially places like TRP and MGTOW. That's one of the main reasons I want to point it out.

To MRAs: We don't dislike your movement because we don't care about men or the issues they face. We dislike your movement because of the large numbers of people within it who are like this 4chan poster.

To TRP: We don't dislike your group because you promote fitness and other self-improvement. We dislike your group because of large numbers of people within it who are like this 4chan poster, and because a large portion of your sidebar material claims the accuracy of and/or condones the attitudes present in this 4chan poster.

To MGTOW: We don't dislike your movement because you want to be solitary, we dislike your movement because of large numbers of people in your ranks who are like this 4chan poster (a MGTOW forum, by the way, is where the very post was linked in agreement)

This subreddit stands against hate speech

And that's why I support it and am a part of it. People are free to perpetuate hate speech, but we are also free to call it out as disgusting ethically bankrupt disregard for, and mistreatment of one's fellow human beings. In the hope that it will lessen and stop sometime in the future.
