I have have lurked reddit since about 2011 and finally made an account about a year ago.
I have always found the meta subs really entertaining. It began with r/circlebroke, when r/atheism was big.
I lost interest in reddit for a while, but then r/european appeared and I discovered this sub and r/conspiracy. In the beginning I would just lurk a bit to remind myself that I was sane, compared to some of the people posting, but now my fascination has developed into near obsession.
Does anyone else feel this way? I remember when I started becoming politically aware. I would be into all the edgy stuff, calling myself an anarchist and drawing hammer and sickles on my backpack - but seriously dude, then I read a fucking book! Some of these people must be in their mid-twenties and they still talk in this epic last-stand style and they are so sensitive to criticism, calling anyone who disagrees with them a shill. What does that even mean?? If your version of the truth constantly fails any kind of scrutiny, maybe it's because you're full of shit.
Their tactic of contrasting themselves with these straw-men SJWs, straight out of r/TIA, it's all so gorgeous and infuriating at the same time.
Anyway I apologise if this is the incorrect place for my rant - this place is too much fun!
tl;dr - I spend way too much time lurking this sub
