Such an end-of-season goal. Bonus points for a freshly subbed-on Young scoring it.

We... suddenly hit the target from distance? Just have to score one now.

That's funny, because a lot of people who hate this movie complain that the twist came buttfuck out of nowhere and had absolutely no build-up at all.

I don't exactly hate the movie but yeah, that's one of my major issues with it.

A little ironic that after centuries of dumb Polack jokes, that Poland would prove to be the only European country to display any real common sense

Good for you Poland

Direct reply:

Poland would prove to be the only European country to display any real common sense

I don't want to shoot you down here, but I wouldn't call Poland the "only" country with any common sense. Hungary started putting fences up last year -- Remember how "racist" that showed them to be.

At least something of worth was upvoted and gilded:

This is coming from the country that abolished its anti-racism and anti-discrimination body because "it does not work", wants to jail women for having abortions, reduced press freedoms and fired journalists from state's channels that dont agree with their far right rethoric.

Poland is r/worldnews in real life.

Edit: Now you may ask yourself, how does the far right party get away with all this unconstitutional and anti human right shit, guess what?

THEY'RE CHANGING THE CONSTITUTION!

Showdown Grips Poland as Party Leader Calls for New Constitution

Special Gold Edit:

Just last week, three former Polish presidents published an open letter featured in one of Poland’s largest newspapers denouncing the new government for what they believe is a “usurpation of power” over existing laws and institutions. Amongst them were Lech Walesa, a Nobel Peace laureate who became modern Poland’s first freely elected president.

“The new government is pursuing policies which both disrespect law and justice, which is ironic given that the party is named Law and Justice,” said Piotr Maciej Kaczynski, a former research fellow at the Centre for European Policy Studies, a Brussels-based think tank.

Huge anti-government protest fills Warsaw's ceremonial boulevard

The throng stretched at least 3 km (2 miles) along a ceremonial boulevard leading past the presidential palace, and Warsaw Mayor Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz, a member of the opposition centrist Civic Platform (PO), put the number of demonstrators at 200,000.

Critics say the nationalist-minded administration is curbing democratic checks and balances and driving a wedge between Poland and its allies in the European Union, which it joined in 2004.

They also say the PiS's euroscepticism could push Poland, a former Soviet satellite, back into the Russian sphere of influence.

this country is filled up

To just pick up on this one ludicrous point you make, I always liked this passage from Bill Bryson's Notes from a Big Country:

Even more ominously, there is a growing belief that the best way of dealing with this supposed crisis is by expelling most of those not born here. There is an organization whose name escapes me (it may be "Dangerously Small-Minded Reactionaries for a Better America") that periodically runs earnest, carefully reasoned ads in the New York Times, Atlantic Monthly, and other important and influential publications calling for an end to immigration because, as one of its ads explains, it "is devastating our environment and the quality of our lives." Elsewhere it adds, "Primarily because of immigration we are rushing at breakneck speed toward an environmental and economic disaster." Oh, give me a break, please.

You could, I suppose, make an economic or even cultural case for cutting back on immigration, but not on the grounds that the country is running out of room. Anti-immigration arguments conveniently overlook the fact that America already expels a million immigrants a year and that those who are here mostly do jobs that are too dirty, low-paying, or unsatisfying for the rest of us to do. Getting rid of immigrants is not suddenly going to open employment opportunities for those born here; all it's going to do is leave a lot of dishes unwashed, a lot of beds unmade, and a lot of fruit unpicked. Still less is it go ing to miraculously create a lot more breathing space for the rest of us.

Just a dialect thing, I'd say.

EDIT: Also, there seems to be archaic grammar involved. This thread claims that it's a continuation of the old dative of interest. Could be /r/badlinguistics material, though. I'm sure more thorough research/googling could get to the bottom of that.

I don't know... I think, in the decisive moment, Memphis was just on the line. Definitely a close call that could really "just" be an honest misjudgment by the ref.
