Not a greentext, but certainly in the spirit of this sub.

Its based on a greentext that was in this sub, so close enough.

[–]SocratovTwoflower 'Jem'|Wild Magic Sorcerer 15

What greentext? Could you provide a link for us energy efficiency midned people?

[–]Airship_CaptainNiada | Elf Ranger 39

All I could find was this facebook post, is that what you're talking about?

[–]SocratovTwoflower 'Jem'|Wild Magic Sorcerer 8

It comes very close, though I fear only /u/coroxe can deny or confirm wether or not this is what he was referring to...

I seem to remember an entire progression of these, along the line of the comic. I'm glad it got put into comic form

Wow! Very diverse! So many cultures!

I know right! We should be keeping orcs and humans separate this intermingling will never end well.

As a half-orc cleric, I take offence at that statement!

Half-orc, all abomination!

[–]MisterSaltineUnprofessional Adventurer 10

Guys, please, don't fight. Just sit and have a drink.

rolls a one for persuasion

Fuck.

[–]Doc_the_Third_Rider 9ポイント10ポイント  (2子コメント)

You try to muster up a good logical argument as to why the Paladin and the Fighter shouldn't fight but part of you REALLY wanted to see them fight. So what you actually say is "FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT"

[–]MisterSaltineUnprofessional Adventurer 9

"I encourage violence."

"Guys, calm down. Fighting is not the answer. I know fighting is awesome and feels like the right thing to do, when the blood boils and you can feel your heart beating like a wardrum. I remember still when I killed a man with my bare hands when he tried to steal from me. I curbstomped that bastard good. Uhm, what was I saying? Yeah, don't fight, please!"

This is that dev team from the assassins creed intros we hear so much about. This is what they do when there no making glitchy world's

Most of these people would not get together at all.

Unless if it's London.

Or high school activities.

Although I'm thinking about it and I can honestly say I've never seen an Asian guy, a white guy, a girl in a hijab, and a black girl all in the same group. DC certainly has enough of each group to do it though. Different cultural influences and social circles I guess.

Also apparently latinos don't play DnD in this comics universe... unless the white guy actually is latino.

At my high school we had a girl who used to wear a hijab, two black girls, one asian girl, and one white girl. My graduating class was almost 40 people.

That being said, I'm pretty sure none of those girls would want anything to do with DnD. They liked shopping though.

... that's almost exactly my friend group (and I'm in the South too). Except instead of a black girl, we have a giant white bearded lumberjack-looking motherfucker.

Last time I went to the pub with friends (in London), we consisted of two Indians (different 'kinds' - one Sikh, one Anglo), an Italian, a Swiss chick, a lady from Mauritius, and an English girl. We played Cards Against Humanity.

So... yeah.

Who was the most dirty?

That's a tough one... The Italian is the most liberal and free with the dirtiness. She's definitely the enabler of the rudeness. The Anglo Indian, also my husband, has the dirtiest sense of humour of all the people I know, but he doesn't often let it out. The Sikh is very reserved, but getting dirtier with our encouragement. The Swiss chick has rather dirty moments, often unexpected and kinda vulgar and inappropriate in a good way. The Mauritian lady knew a lot of dirty words in her own language, which she enjoyed sharing. And me, the English, is the common, run of the mill, chavvy dirty, I think. I think we all bring something to the smut table.

The Sikh won. Her dirtiness was definitely the most surprising.

Well, my point's proven.

What's so great about london

Let's keep them all white, after all, it is the superior race, right

There used to be a time where my group had a rule about rolling nat-1s on charisma checks. If you did, you immediately tried to have sex with whatever you were trying to persuade, deceive, etc.

It pretty much started out like this every time.

Well that is the least offensive and ethnically diverse cast of characters I've ever seen outside of a CW show. It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't so obvious.

Reminds me of the Burger King Kids Club.

Did they steal Vince from Recess?

Probably the other way around. Kids Club is old as hell.

[–]Kazuja 8

I mean, tall/athletic black friend isn't really something you steal from one particular show. Like, I'm not even trying to be racist here, but that actually just seems like a character trope.

We have to go deeper.

We need tall/athletic black friend patient zero.

[–]FUCKING_HATE_REDDIT 1ポイント2ポイント  (0子コメント)

My biggest problem are the copy-pasted smiles.

Too many whiteys.

Don't use that word.

The correct terminology is "Racist-American." /s

It's actually what the artist's playgroup looks like, IIRC.

Pics or it didn't happen

I call BS, there are two too many girls.

He said to a girl in a DnD subreddit.

Sorry forgot jokes weren't allowed

Just thought the juxtaposition was funny, no worries.

Yeah you probably shouldn't have said that. Out of curiosity how many are in your group? My main group has none but I also DM for a group that has three girls and one guy, I think they clump together.

In my main group I'm the only one, but I also play with a group made up of 5 girls (including the DM) and 0 guys. So yeah, I would say we definitely clump together.

Everyone is mentioning this. Is it really that weird to have friends from different ethnicities and backgrounds playing together? This is almost identical to what my group looks like, and I don't really think that it's out of place.

Reddit really doesn't like ethnic diversity, especially in art.

[–]Maxrdt 8

I get that it can be annoying when it's forcibly shoehorned into things or forced, but it's possibly the least important detail of this entire comic, why not just let it slide? Who even cares?

I came to these comments hoping for funny related stories about accidental romances and critical failures, and all I get is "The background characters are too diverse!"

I know, don't tell this to me ;)

I didn't even notice

Same, I'm surprised to see so many people have a problem with it. Kinda hard to care so much about this stuff, honestly.

Honestly. This thread has like, two or three first level comments about it and I'm just like "wait there was an asian guy?"

I thought the muslim girl was a blonde. Confused the hijab with hair.

Meh the character's race doesn't mean anything. Its not really a big deal if it's diversified or if it was 4 white guys. Its the same story.

I'm Hispanic but that doesn't mean I need a Hispanic character to relate. I'm relating to the character of the person and not to their skin color. The anime that I watch are mostly japanese characters, the netflix series have mostly while male protagonist, my favorite wrestler is a black dude portraying an Aztec descendant. It's pretty BS to say you can't relate to a character because he's white or black.

It's pretty BS to say you can't relate to a character because he's white or black.

Agreed, and its honestly pretty damn racist. Boy I sure do love Peter Parker and the struggles he goes through with his family and home life really make me think about my own problems, but I can't identify with him on a basic human level because he's white.

That just comes across as some racist bullshit right there.

People that aren't white guys though get upset, cause there aren't any characters that they can empathize with.

Then they're shit people who lack human empathy if they can't identify with someone they don't look like.

Oh yeah? I didn't even notice that there were people in this comic at first!

      Same.

Guess caring more about a funny comic than the skin colors of the cast members makes me the weird one.

Thanks Reddit... I didn't need these feels today.

Thanks Reddit... I didn't need these feels today.

You don't belong on the internet.

      Well...sorry we ruined your day?

Beyond the fact that this is a perfectly reasonable complaint to have (unnecessary diversity ruins immersion and can be seen as propaganda or self-congratulatory, because it often is) if you honestly are so worried about the internet's response to something you post then maybe you should stay away from places where people might disagree with you (which is also a bad idea.) Most of the critics in this thread are being civil, and if we're hurting your feelings, that's...kind of your problem, not ours.

And to be clear: the comic is less funny because of the forced diversity. We're caring about the funny comic more than anything else, because that's all that should matter. However, that's clearly not all that matters for the artist, which is kind of insulting and definitely detracts from the comic itself.

It doesn't matter that people disagree. What makes me sad is that people are so blinded by race and tumblr-hate that something as minor as what shade the characters are, can completely derail the discussion of what was meant to be a light-hearted diversion. No matter how you try to hide it, your bitching and moaning communicates that non-cis gender white people have no place in this hobby. You're all so sensitive that you can't handle people who are different than you participating in the same form of escapism as you. Frankly, it's disgusting.

I thought people were better than that. Your failure as a human being is what makes me sad.

      non-cis gender white people

I'm on your side in that the race of the character don't matter but when you start using this terms it makes it way harder. You end up coming out as an asshole which is pretty bad considering you're arguing against people who would be on the "racist" side.

That's the actual term for the group I'm referring to. If you have a problem with that I, uh, don't quite know what to tell you.

Oh so you're just an asshole then. Peace out.

Sure bud, your diversity medal is in the mail.

I don't see why it would be bad either way.

Umm... I haven't really noticed that. To be fair it's what you would get getting 4 people at random in most of the UK cities.

I know, right? Where I live is almost entirely Asians and Muslims, so the inclusion of the Token White Guy just feels forced.

Think about what you're saying for a second.

You're right. He literally said that ethnic diversity is bad. Also implying it's impossible to have a racially diverse group of friends "IRL".

He literally said that ethnic diversity is bad

      Quote me saying that.

Also implying it's impossible to have a racially diverse group of friends "IRL".

      And doing that.

Well that is the least offensive and ethnically diverse cast of characters I've ever seen outside of a CW show. It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't so obvious.

      wouldn't be so bad

      if it wasn't so obvious

Implying it was a deliberate attempt at faux diversity.

      That was easy.

there's no winning. No matter how you draw a group somebody is going to get pissy about it.

Actually, that's not true. It's WarGames rules--the only winning move is not to play. The only "right" way to draw a group is to just not give a shit. This artist clearly gave a shit.

Your characters feel like something out of a microsoft commercial. just missing the hip young kid and oldie.

And the Hispanic kid in a wheelchair

That last panel is just pure fucking gold.

So a couple bad dice rolls changes his character's sexual preferences? Shouldn't that be the players choice? I mean he doesn't seem like he's all for it.

Cool. Downvotes for disagreeing to force your player's character into a sexual situation. What the hell is wrong with you guys? If my player told me she wanted to play a lesbian I would not force her to marry a guy on a crit fail.

A series of fails where they compliment each other, and lightly caress each other.

Then the player very clearly states his intent to seduce the Orc. Which he does.

The player made his bed, and is laying in it.

When she makes the orc attack and she crit fails, it would have just been a failed attack. As a dm I believe the player has control over THEIR character. It is wrong to force your feelings/stance on any subject matter into a player's characters...maybe unless it was a wish spell and you are prepared for the argument at the table.
