This is a blatant cover up. We have no evidence but someone in authority who is clearly biased, due to their position in Jagex, defending a ban based on random statements. The golden crown doesn’t mean anything.

Firstly, a lot of people in this subreddit are defending the Mods and the ban and saying we are over-reacting and even accusing us of obsession. They are in the minority, but I want them to join us in this and stop thinking we’re obsessed or immature. We’re not.

If we don’t hold the moderators accountable for their actions, we will lose runescape again. This has happened before, we had to tell Jagex they owe us, sign petitions and let Jagex know that they are losing out by not listening to us. That was how we got OSRS back in the first place. Those who play this game and then say “Jagex don’t owe us” or are against us holding them accountable shouldn’t even play OSRS in that case, because it was us and that culture who brought it back when Jagex took it from us. If you can’t stand one day of revolution on this subreddit, then you would have laid down when we lost Rs2. Or if you did stand up then, perhaps you need to realise that the erosion of osrs to rs3 was a slow process. Numerous updates that lots of people didn’t like were not resisted against, abuse by mods not resisted against and then finally EOC was dropped.

If you only became indignant at that final update- EOC- you were still in the wrong and should have been for community led updates, rule enforcement and community led culture of osrs. Why? Because it’s the lack of that that let them take our game away.

Secondly, this is a pattern in history between power and the masses. When Nixon did Watergate, he tried to cover it up. He said those who challenged him were conspiracy theorists- coining that word for the first time. The first time it was used, it turned out to be a conspiracy and not just a theory.

The mods won’t ban everyone instantly, they’ll do it slowly enforcing their own image of osrs which is the most profitable- by protecting female streamers for exposure in this one example. If you have noticed, Mod Mat K is the mod who usually says “we can’t afford that” or “that’s too much work”. He’s the Mod with the purse, he’s the one that’s most concerned about making Runescape profitable- that’s probably his job. We can’t let his greed ruin the game though and ban people without showing us real evidence, and that’s when he’s crossing a line that we can’t accept.

If we don’t stand up now, who knows who the mods will ban next on their own whim for exposure to the game - and eventually even Reddit will feel it’s fighting a losing battle and the memeage will stop and the defenders of the mods will rise up and win. Now we could be wrong, these bans could be legitimate (I doubt it). However, even if it was legitimate we need evidence and we need proof. And if we turn out to be wrong about the unfair banning (which I doubt we will) then we still did the right thing. This culture of pushing back is what brought France out of Feudalism and into capitalism- which is a system everyone can agree provides more freedom, wealth and general QOL for everyone in the world compared to Monarchist systems. If we want the OSRS we fought for to start with, we need to keep pushing forward like this.

It’s this trembling indignation at the smallest injustice that made me join reddit, because we can’t stop and let them win and we can’t let them shut us up.

Edit: in response to people saying this is overly dramatic, this is already happening. There have been complaints about botting, cwars harassment, scammers and other things which the mods don't care about or enforce. Only when we post about one scammer, HeyLetsPlay/2147m coins did he get banned. and that was just one scammer- the mods havent changed, they still are the same and the other 1000 scammers still infest the G.E.

They are running the game for profit again. Cwars is already in serious decline thanks to sabo's who won't be banned but these stream harrassers are manually banned- wasting mod time. Soon more minigames will die, the economy will be on the down thanks to bots and normal ppl playing will have to spend more hours for the same achievement, but as long as Jagex can line their pockets they won't care. As more of us quit, they'll look for a player base more like RS3's with microtransactions to make up for lost profits and promote streamers to get new players into the game rather than keep old ones. We can't stop now after it took huge effort to get OSRS in the first place.

TLDR: we're not obsessed, we're saving OSRS and Mod ronan's reply is just trying to shut us up.
