Mixed Messages and Poor Leadership at the_Donald

precoup

Context: GumbleDog and several of the other moderators come to the conclusion that modmail is too inefficient and we need a better platform to communicate and suggests IRC.

postcoup

Context: Phinaeus has been top moderator for roughly 3 hours, before this I had no idea who he was as he was a relatively recent non-communicative addition. Gumble seems to suddenly agree that IRC is no longer necessary, and that we should do all communication through the (highly insecure) modmail and private sub. The public IRC channel is removed from the sidebar without explanation, the comment was a response to me ignoring Phinaeus and putting it back.

CWM vanishes, empty promises

Context: CWM has just left the building, TrumpGal is the new top mod and (per usual) is missing. I am #2 mod, being promised a #4 spot after the reshuffle being one of the oldest mods. Instead I was "reshuffled" to the 30s along with some of the most active mods.

first red flags

Context: To help take the user's minds off of CWM being doxxed we began proposing shitposts that would bring us back to what we were about, being an outrageous spectacle that actively sought to distance ourselves from all of the other sterile subreddits. Enter TrumpGal, who popped in a whole 12 hours later to veto the decision, the first in a long series of shutting down many more ideas and restricting the sub without proposing anything new.

No more promoting related subs in sidebar (outside of my control)

Note the 2 hour response time. That was about as fast as it ever got for the mod that we weren't permitted to make any decisions without.

Strife over rule 11

Without warning we were instructed that there was a new rule. We debated this furiously for about 36 hours but none of us had the authority to remove it.

lots of disagreement over rule 11
