Many more hours played than steam reports. An oldie but a goldie. When Left 4 Dead was originally released it absolutely rocked the FPS world and helped many of us conquer the fear of zombies.

This game was the beginning of a now still popular franchise this game is still a tone of fun although yes Left4dead does have the original games campaign included this is still worth buying

This game is the reason why I have Steam installed in my pc.

I wish this game didn't die after L4D2, it's so good even if it got boring with the very limited maps to play over and over. I look forward to see how horribly they ruin a 3rd version of the game.

It's hard to recommend a primarily coop game that has such a small community, but I still give it a buy.

You should still be able to find a game most of the time, there just is little selection in what game mode, difficulty, etc. due to the small player base. Personally, I prefer this to its successor, and perhaps that's just nostalgia from the days playing this on my 360 and having a blast with my friends. I do think the game has excellent campaigns and the atmosphere when you hear the music pick up and you know the horde is coming you get such an adrenaline rush that is rarely matched in video games.

Pick it up if you can snag it on sale, it's well worth the sales price.

Very great game, tactical co-op at it's finest. L4D2 has everything this game has to offer and much more, all the campaigns from this game are remastered and get this, some layouts of the maps are changed to provide more challenge. So not everything is the same.

AI acts very differently in this game. The survivor bots AI is laughable, mediocre, you put some nasty word here. Let me elaborate. Bots in this game are so advanced they can commit friendly fire, yes, it's possible, and you thought bots from the 2nd game were bad. Comparing bots from this game to bots from the second is like comparing the 1st computer ever made to a highly advanced computer of today's modern age. Yeah, they're that bad. They will never be around you, they will rather focus on a zombie that's too far away and circle around him than to provide cover for you. When you get incapped by a special infected it will take them ages to find you and free you, especially on the higher difficulties.

Like the survivor AI, the infected AI is here, but, that AI is slightly, shall we say, improved. You remember that strategy for the tank, igniting him with a molotov and then running and gunning? Well, it won't work anymore, in this game, setting a tank on fire will boost his speed making him a force to be reckoned with on expert. Capable of obliterating the entire team in seconds. Which of course will make you think of the new strats to take on him. Hunters, smokers and boomers, they all come in the most unfortunate moments, like when you're incapped, or you're in the middle of a horde attack. They tend to spawn out of mid air too, see, you're, let's say in this alley right now, you turn a corner to pick up pills, you turn around and there they are, even though, they weren't there in the 1st place. Another shi*storm sent there by AI Director.

Lots and lots of abusable glitches in this game, for survival, for campaigns, you name it. Note that all these glitches present are good glitches which can help you if you learn how to exploit them. No bad glitches so far.

You know your general setup of guns, other gear, and campaigns. Campaigns are beautifully crafted, level design are out of this world, how well made are they. Each time you play, the game will be different than the last one you played each time providing a challenge. Thanks to the AI Director which controlls all the item and infected spawns in those campaigns.

Also, apart from the 2nd installment, you can carry more ammunition for some guns, mostly starting shotgun and tactical/combat shotgun.

Now, after all I've said, let's move onto the community. This game has at least 200-600 people playing daily, you'll find maybe 2-3 campaigns on which you can join from the selection menu, maybe 1 or none versus game, and here and there a couple of survival games. Community is small, not a lot of people are playing this game anymore because the sequel is superior in most ways. Even though the community is small, you'll still find griefers(trolls), so some form of cancer is still present in this game. Versus community is as toxic as that of the 2nd game. One mistake and you're gone. So stay away till you know you can handle yourself. You'll meet a couple of really nice people here and there, my advice, friend them, and stick close to them. Best way to play this game is to play with friends, isolate yourself from the griefers and just enjoy and have a blast.

One last thing for you gun fans out there, there are no workshop add-ons in this game, workshop for this game is non existant. So, just a heads up. This game is purely old school.

Now, after all I've said, you can either take my words for it, or go and try it yourself, you decide if you want this game or not.

With every bad thing this game has, I love it with all my heart. Played it back in the day on x360, and bought it here for nostalgia sake only to find it on brink of it's death. Still it's pretty fun with the right crowd.

Packed with action. The only drawback for me is that it's a game more turned to multiplayer than solo.

its boring and not what u expect

now this is my most favorite game and I played this a while back on a console which is pretty great and I love this game I cant stop playing it once I play it because its awesome to play and you get to shoot at zombies and special infected that will try to kill you and online mode makes it even more fun with friends and versus mode with random people and friends is very fun.

+extremely fun.

I do not dislike anything about this game.
