Sony Gets Handheld Device Patent Axed In AIA Review

Law360, New York (May 10, 2016, 7:40 PM ET) -- The Patent Trial and Appeal Board on Tuesday ruled a patent related to hand-held devices was invalid, delivering a win to Sony, which had been accused of infringing with the controller for its popular PlayStation 4 gaming system.

In a final written decision, the board said Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC had shown each of the patent’s 20 claims were invalid because they were obvious in light of earlier inventions.
