Thanks :) I just switched accounts, cause my old one was compromised, but I had no idea what to call it. so i went with the top things on my mind. They collectively are my favorite universes of all time (maybe LoTR/hobbit too, and narnia, and... ok so I like fantasy XD)

But yeah, Witcher 3 is my favorite game (read the books, haven't played the first 2 yet)

ATLA and LOK are my favorite tv shows, with GOT coming in at a close second. I have a feeling once I read the books I shall get a bit more context and appreciate the universe better.

Got any other recommendations for me to watch/read/consume?

I'm in the middle of reading the Witcher novels too. It's fantastic how closely CDPR stayed true to the lore and history in those books.

If you're a Star Wars fan or even someone who just happened to like the Star Wars movies, I highly suggest watching the Clone Wars. The first season is pretty low budget but the writing is fantastic in the second and the characters are well drawn. There's about 5 1/2 seasons all together with the last half season available on Netflix after Disney canned the show. Rebels would be the follow up but I don't think it's nearly as good.

As for reading material. If you haven't read them, the Inheritence series is a fantastic set of books. The writing might be a tad weak in Eragon but Eldest and Brisingr are amazing pieces of writing. They are definitely hefty volumes however. The third and fourth books are between 800-900 pages.

I watched some episodes of the clone wars when I was babysitting some kid who was really into it. I have contemplated starting it again and actually watching more than just the first few episodes. It seemed more kid like, and I like the dark fantasy a bit more now, but you have good taste, so I shall try it out.

as for the Inheritence series, it's funny you mentioned them, as they used to be my FAVORITE series when they were coming out. I absolutely loved them to death, but everyone seems to think they are written poorly on reddit so I don't have anyone to discuss them with :(

You and I have almost too similar tastes, it's scary.

Lol, well I should tell you it's a good idea to watch farther into the Clone Wars. The first season is a lot about introductions but the show gets pretty dark as you witness the war go from republic/separatist skirmishes and into a downwards spiral.

Hey man. If you are interested in fantasy universes, I would check out The Malazan Book of the Fallen. I read GoT years ago, and now that the show is really taking over I am kind of disappointed. Why can't he finish the books? Anyways..

The Malazan Book of the Fallen is a 10 part book series that is complete! There are also some spin off novels that you can read afterwards, and more in the works currently, including another trilogy to be finished. It took me about 8 months to get through all 10 books, but it is far and away the best series I have ever read (fantasy junkie as well). Very, very, very highly recommend.

Well I mean, consoles can definitly cost less over time! You just have to skip on PS+/Xbox Live (and thus just play offline) and buy a small amount of games and only when they are on sales. Ezpz

Seriously, as someone that just got a PS4, I find it a bit daunting having to either cough up a ton of cash for the games I want to play or waiting for a sale that's going to be -33% off at most. I thought as soon as I got the PS4 I'd just go on a shopping spree but I'm no millionare. Also my first month just ended and I have to cough up $50 for the year.

It was $20 Canadian on sale just recently. I bought it about 2 weeks ago for that price. I just beat it tonight! Great game. Can't recommend enough if you enjoy Dark/Demon Souls!

If you bought a used 360 and skyrim just to play offline, yeah, I can see how pcs are so much more expensive. But that's literally spending a couple hundred bucks to play one game. I have a thousand dollar rig that I use to play any number of my favorites out of 100 games. I only really play about 12 of them, but hey, the option is out there, and I got them for so dirt cheap that it's barely even worth my time just to play and install them.

Thow in a single 750 Ti and BOOM, you are playing almost all AAA games quite 'well' at 1080p. I know it is not going to be the full 'luxury' experience but still a step up from what consoles are offering with the benefits of PC for only sub $100 and works in just about all pre-builts.

That was extremely arrogant of Notch though, you never really like when someone comes up to you having fun and tells you: "wow you're doing it wrong. This is how you're supposed to have fun!", it's annoying and you probably just want the kid to go away and brag to someone else.

As far as Uncharted goes, Uncharted is a PS4 exclusive that most PC players would love, because it's easy to see Naughty Dog are one of the most talented developers along CDPR and Blizzard. So going around insulting people for playing one of the best games this generation on a console is actually extremely arrogant and stupid. Like saying Bloodborne is bad because you can't play it or dismissing Ratchet and Clank

You probably haven't played their games yet, they all feel like excellent products of love and talent. Like that feeling when going through Witcher 3. They know what they're good at and they go for it, Last of Us is another example of how good these people are.

Last of Us, Uncharted and old school Crash Bandicoot is Naughty Dog. Again, you haven't played the game, TLOU isn't just a "movie" experience although every single cutscene is indeed a good experience, the gameplay feels tight, the companion AI is pretty good and the difficulty is really great, the zombies are truly menacing. Especially clickers

I watched about 30 minutes of TLOU. I 100% know it is the exact opposite of my idea of a good game. "Next gen" graphics? Check. Bombarded with cutscenes that distract from gameplay and remove immersion? Check. Third person to remove immersion even more? Check. "Walking" gameplay bits where you don't actually do anything besides walk down a set path with some mild dialogue? Check.

Very subjective, but all things that ruin a game for me. Half Life is one of my favorite games of all time because, as a comparison for you of what I think a game should do:

Unique art style and setting? Check. No cutscenes? Check. First person silent protagonist to immerse the player? Check. "Walking" bits are very rare and made interesting and interactive when they are present? Check.

While I have nothing against Half Life, I really dislike silent protagonists, not to the point of saying I find games with them bad, I just think that ineractions with other NPCs come across as awkward when they pretty much answer themselves. By your definition of silent protagonist you must not like that many new games. And by the dunnohownany times, games are fun when played or experience, I get the cutscene frustration, some people just wanna play the game, but judging games from a video of someone playing isn't actually 100% fair. I thought I wouldn't enjoy Overwatch because of the gameplay I had seen and I thought it was a TF2 clone but playing the beta changed my mind and I preordered as soon as the beta ended, for example

I'll be that guy. I like FPS with a controller better. Why you may ask..... because that's what I'm better at. I'm 35 years old. I do not put in the hours and hours of time needed to be that good with a mouse and keyboard.

I realize that I could be much better with a mouse and keyboard. But I also know that I've never been as good as some other people on M+K like because of the combination of hypersensitivity of the gaming mouse and that I'm left handed, and therefore I am trying to be that precise with my off hand.

It just doesn't really work out well for me. I do realize this has to do with my inherent lack of skill with that setup, but I'm 99% sure me on a K+M would get his ass kicked by me with a controller.

It took me like maybe a week to get far more accurate with a mouse than I was for years with a controller. This excuse falls flat on it's face, it seems like you tried to play with a M&K for 2 minutes then gave up.

If you ever decide to give K&M a go try a reduced mouse sensitivity. Can greatly boost accuracy is you have a decent sized mouse pad. I play so one 360deg rotation in game takes roughly 16". This will help combat your mouse "hypersensitivity" and will greatly improve your shooting compared to a controller. You think that seems like a huge difference but with game sense and crosshair placement you are only ever making minor corrections anyways.

I'm with you. I like using a controller and I'm set in my console ways. The difference is there are kids that will say that it's better than PC whereas I know that my personal preference for consoles doesn't mean in any way they are better and economically I know im getting fucked over

It's not that it's badly programmed, it's that the initial code was never meant to scale up to the game it has become. It was fine when it was small.

The multiplayer looks like it will be poor, but having watched someone play through a bit of the campaign, I'd have to say it looks pretty amazing.

I don't know about that. The steam pre-release reviews are very positive right now so let's hope the initial release doesn't dissapoint.
