Where in the first world uses bidets? That's all weirdo countries where they sleep in the middle of the day and don't wear shoes.

It's completely standard to have bidets in most of southern Europe.

Well, "bidet" in North America doesn't mean the same thing than in Europe.

In France - where I come from (I think we invented the thing, it's in every bathroom in my parent's house) - it's basically a low sink you straddle to wash your nasty parts. That's probably what you're thinking of.

In the U.S., they call a "bidet" those toilets that have jets to wash your behind and genitalia. Basically the basic version of those fancy Japanese toilets.
