As some of you know I have my Bachelor Degree in Social Science with a focus on Anthropology, Psychology and Sociology. My goal once I finished school was to work in mental health. I worked with at risk youth for many years. I found that what I really wanted to do was become a therapist and I found the perfect masters program in Art Therapy. An Art Therapist has the education of a therapist with the skill of utilizing art to help others with their trauma. I have been creating art since I was a young child; whether painting, drawing, crafting, and more recently my business ins creating custom clothing for performers and pinup ladies. The biggest deterrent that has prevented me from pursuing my masters has been cost. However I have recently found several opportunities for scholarships that would help me once accepted.
I have all the required Psychology classes taken care of but as I was not an art major, I need to take credited classes before I am able to be accepted into my academic program. I am required to take 3 classes in painting, 3 classes in drawing and 3 classes in sculpture as well as a counseling theory class and introduction to art therapy. As of now I have finished two classes.
My goal is to be able to raise enough money to go full time to finish these courses and be able to start my art therapy masters.
