To be fair, that was Russia's strategy during the war

No, just no. The idea of using tanks like infantry waves is completely retarded. T-34s weren't charging towards the enemy in huge numbers, like cavalry. You know what would have happened if they did that? They all would have been destroyed without a single enemy casualty.

They weren't outnumbering German tanks tactically, but strategically. If one got destroyed, there was another that would eventually take its place, like with most nations for most of the war. They could out-produce Germany, but replacing tanks still took time. The amount of Russian tanks in an engagement was no more than the tanks of other nations, because huge waves which swarm enemy tanks is not how you use tanks.

Why would that happen?

Because either you stretch your frontline too far trying to reach local firepower superiority, or you dont get any firepower superiority.

You can barely see out of a tank without looking out your hatch, you can't shoot at all accurately even on flat ground, you're a huge open target to AT guns, and what do you plan on doing once you get to the enemy? Stop just before them? Stop amongst them? If so, good job, because now the enemy will destroy all your tanks with AT grenades and take out all you optics and throw grenades down your hatches if they're not locked from the inside, etc. Tanks work by shooting things anywhere from not too close to far away. They don't work by simply driving towards the enemy hoping to do "something" once they get there.

Soviet strategy was Deep operation. When your attack on the enemy lines fail, you dont reinforce that failed attack, but rather you find a place where their defenses are weaker, so this strategy excludes Human wave tactics. Also Human wave isnt even a real tactic, it is more like a psychological warfare.

Source? But seriously...you're very, very, very misinformed if you aren't joking.

I'd say their biggest advantage wasn't tank numbers but rather tsarist era artillery pieces. Using lend-lease 2.5 tons from the US their formerly horse drawn artillery suddenly became highly mobile. They basically made tank hit squads that would post up behind a house, hit a tank, and drive away
