Tomorrow Woodward Announces LVG is Staying, where do we go? (self.reddevils)

This thread is a hypothetical response to all the negativity around the sub at the moment and whilst that negativity is justified it is a bit of a depressing place to be at the moment. But say tomorrow Woodward announces LVG is staying next year, what do we do in the summer, who do we sign, how well do we do next season?

I was curious to see if anyone had an opinion on these things, hopefully more positive and discussion inclusive answers than "relation, sign nobody and play like shit".

IMO in the summer we'll attempt to fix our midfield problem by signing more young players, on the right wing we'll bid big for a ton of big players but end up with someone average from the PL. I think we might also buy another young striker and an average CB alongside smalling. If we need a new keeper I can't see us letting De Gea go without getting Navas.

I think we'll finish around 6th next year playing the same football, only slightly better due to the new signings.

But what does everyone else think?

There is an article on bbc.com/football (the source I would trust the most than the bunch of tweets from DiMarzio or whatever) that mentions how LVG has vetoed the signing of Renato Sanchez and how LVG is very closely involved in next season and pre-season planning.. Looking at all this, I highly doubt Mourinho would be appointed.

Well it is possible that Woodward is letting him continue entirely in his role until top 4 is completely impossible. He is after all currently the manager still, I don't think he'll be sacked until we don't get top 4 and until the final is over, as it stands he IS still the manager.

    If LVG stays I think certain players will leave, Herrera being no. 1 on that list. LVG obviously doesn't rate him enough to start him regularly, and I think Herrera deserves to be a starter at some club.

    I think we'll be linked with and go after several high profile names and not sign them (Ibra, Bale, Neymar, Sneijder...), I think we'll spend over the odds on at least one <22 year old (possibly Stones), however I don't think we'll sign a player from the PL because that would be too sensible.

    I don't think DDG will leave.

    I would like to see us sign a solid world class CB and striker, but I've been saying this for 2 years now and Falcao aside it hasn't happened.

    I think we'll finish around 6th-8th if LVG stays the whole season, and we'll reach the Europa knockouts and lose before the semis. I do think however that a bad start to the season, ie. outside top 4 in Nov. and LVG will be sacked.

    I think it would be mental to keep a manager for the last year of his contract when everyone knows that there won't be an extension to it.

    If the players won't perform for him now, how are they going to perform knowing that he'll be gone after the season?

    City have gone to shit ever since it was announced that it's Pellegrini's final year.

    We'll buy some good but not great players. We'll still play shit football and the year after we are left with Giggs because Mourinho has taken the PSG job.

    Let LvG have control over another transfer window, bring in some great players. We must also keep De Gea. Hopefully both for now and for Giggs who will take over the next season. Hopefully Giggs turns out like Zidane and Guardiola. The goal is top 4 again and the FA cup. Continue to promote youth trough the league and EL/League cup. Hopefully with all the youngsters in their second season and Shaw returning we have a good season and make top 4 and win the FA cup.

    He has outright the second best team in the league and has faced cannon fodder all along in the champions league. And he's dropped points against small teams. The switch where he placed Casemiro in the center was his only tweak to the team, a fairly common sensical move. I'd wait to call him good or great or decent.
