YouTuber GradeAUnderA doesn't like a thread that criticizes him on his fan subreddit, tries to get mod to delete it. (self.Drama)

One of the mods on /r/GradeAUnderA, /u/CyanSheepMedia posts the PMs traded between herself and GradeA (http://i.imgur.com/2Y5GD6O.png), in which the YouTuber (GradeA) asks the mod to delete this thread (https://www.reddit.com/r/GradeAUnderA/comments/4cl24n/anyone_else_getting_put_off_from_gradea/) for being full of "unfair criticism", in which fans express distaste with his recent videos, and GradeA goes full lolcow mode with huge walls of text as responses.

GradeA insists he doesn't want to silence anyone, he just can't get the thread out of his mind, and thus tries to silence them. CyanSheepMedia (Emily) refuses to delete the critical thread, decides to lock it. General comments' consensus to the PMs is "wow GradeA is a dick" (https://www.reddit.com/r/GradeAUnderA/comments/4ht7fr/transparency_is_key_more_info_in_comments/).

After seeing this, GradeA makes a self post that has to be seen to be believed (https://www.reddit.com/r/GradeAUnderA/comments/4hu2js/please_read/), and gets downvoted to hell in the comments.

I think he can be funny, but isn't.

His entire channel is revolved around inside-jokes and inescapable, awful memes (that vape shit made me want to kill myself). His content isn't that original either, and every video is the same format. First, he makes a cringy parody of something, then does a usually pretty bland reaction segment to whatever he was parodying, like a less harsh Leafy, with some stupid, randumb editing thrown in.

Reddit and YouTube drama are the only reasons he's as popular as he is right now, he goes along with all their circlejerks and provides them with more terrible memes to karma whore. Seeing as Reddit seems to have passing affections for and are quick to turn on people, I can see his channel dropping off within the next year. Hopefully, if this does happen, it will inspire him to make better content instead of reusing the same formula over and over and relying on memes to do the rest.

Im a HUGE h3h3 fan, and ive seen every h3 and h2 video multiple times, but i think vape nation is by far the least funny video and meme in the h3 universe, and I dont vape.

I am gonna go a little off topic here but I used to vape but I did it to quit smoking.

I have observed two kinds of people within the vape community. The ones who are trying to quit by buying the smallest and cheapest commercially available vape at a local B&M store and will buy juice flavors that mimic cigarettes.

The "vape bros" are the ones that get so worked up about anyone making fun of the people that vape.They are the ones who buy insane mods or do their own thing and vape juice like "chocolate cherry unicorn cum" and are the ones who try to offset their penis size with huge clouds.

I no longer vape because my body no longer craves nicotine but when I tell people that I used vaping to help me quit I will generally get a "hurr durr do you even vape bro" and it pisses me off because I was never one of those dudes.

There's definitely a gear subculture like there is with weed. The gear subculture turns into a lifestyle, approaches something like a lifestyle, if the gearhead is into it enough. It's the same sort of mentality that turns craft beer, weed, suits and watches, etc, into a subculture: there's a shared experience and knowledge base and then a rationalization for how that shared thing makes the people who share it better than the out-group, usually something to do with 'expertise' or another vague virtue term. Tom Wolfe called it the "fiction absolute." Then you start demonizing the out-group, saying "the kind of people who criticize vaping..." Jokes become disallowed. People end up hating these people because they are using a comparatively trivial activity to abuse everyone around them into inferiority.

I was on the sub when it happened. I'm subscribed to that sub. Ethan defended making fun of Timmy B's hair because it was something Timmy B could change so he wasn't REALLY making fun of that kid, he also said the Matty B video "didn't count". He was defending making fun of children. Personally I don't really care, but it makes Ethan a hypocrite

Emily expecting me to remember her name is similar to how kids will remember teacher's names years on, but the teacher won't necessarily remember theirs. Teachers have a lot more kids (Sometimes almost 200 a year) than kids have teachers (about 10 a year)

Most fan subreddits don't give the creator mod privileges and rightfully so IMO, it's a place to discuss things about that creator and if the creator was a mod they could just delete whatever criticism they disagree with or ban people for differing opinions, having 3rd party mods allows it most of the time to be not as biased (depending on the sub)

He made a poorly thought out video, with little thought, if any, given to what he was going to say, and the result was other youtubers getting unfair criticism as a result of his video, in which he made such vague comments about something as broad as "drama" as a whole, making no distinction between good and bad drama. His hair or his nickname wasn't the main issue, that was. Markiplier fans are focusing more on those and ignoring what I mentioned in the paragraph above.

His latest video, he made the mistake of painting with too broad a brush. He makes a lot of unjustified claims and insults far too much.

He was basically reaching too far in the dark and the pedantic half of his fan base is justly unreceptive.
