If it's these kind of gifs, I could see it adding value to the subreddit. It adds depth and context to the food.

I would be concerned about being swamped with those cooking gifs. The top down videos that seem to plague facebook.

I have to put the groceries in bags while the cashier is scanning other items. I'm not just stood there watching dumbly. Maybe they scanned faster than I can pack so there's a delay before I can even think about getting my purse out.
