We shouldn't be surprised anymore, we all know what Activision does.

This is one of the reasons why the Infinite Warfare trailers has over 1 million dislikes.

EDIT: I just saw the link after posting my comment and it was the same FAQs posted last week.

That really doesn't mean that you WILL NEED the Infinite Warfare disc or a digital copy of it, it might also mean that it will be only sold in the bundles which may change after a few months.

I am completely incapable of understanding why people are surprised by this. Of course they want people to buy IW. That's how they will generate the most revenue from their games. Its not like this is a problem specifically with Activision. It's not a nonprofit. Sometimes I feel like the gaming community has no concept of how most businesses operate.

Edit: And I believe "disc" was added by OP, here. I'm sure you'll get to play it if get the digital version of the game. Article/FAQ from Activision doesn't say anything about Disc.

This does not confirm the rumor that you have to put the disc in to play the game. Requiring ownership of the game and requiring the disc to be in the system are two entirely different things.

If you don't need to put the disc in to play it, it'll either be its own disc or (more likely) a download code. If that's the case, I know myself and plenty of others will buy it then resell IW back.

If it requires the disc, that's an entirely different situation and may dissuade people from buying it at all. Considering the two different situations, it's important to note that we don't know for certain how it'll work out.

The "disc" part is all the article talks about. The only new bit of information is about the disc. The very first sentence, as well as the headline, specify that the rumor (also the headline of this post) is regarding the disc. The FAQ is not new. The disc rumor is. And that's the point of the article and the post.

And why shouldn't they do this? It's pretty clear at this point that the vast vocal community will hate Activision no matter what they do and no matter what direction they take. If they had greenlit a WW1/2 game, they'd take flack for doing the same thing as EA/DICE. If they continued with modern conflicts, they'd be taken to task for beating a horse that's been dead for years. If Modern Warfare Remastered was THE product being released this holiday, all on its own, people would be complaining that all they're capable of is rehashes. There's literally no winning for Activision when it comes to the "informed" consumer's opinion, so of course they're going to do what they can to still make money from a community that will bite back regardless. Pursuing a futuristic setting is the most creative route possible for the franchise at this point, and I applaud Activision for taking the risk, and if holding Modern Warfare Remastered "hostage" is what it takes to make that risk viable, then so-fucking-be it.

Be angry. It's all you're capable of.

I honestly understand why Activision doesn't care what the community wants. They made an effort to make different style COD because people wanted something different, now 3 years later they want to go back. The community is so fickle and is toxic.

I actually hope IW gets Infinite Warfare right because being set in the future doesn't mean it's going to be bad.

Digital Deluxe is $100.

Infinite Warfare-$60

MW Remastered-$20

Season Pass-$20

With this all taken into consideration, the digital deluxe seems to be the cheapest of the bundles.

If they add extra DLC maps to MW4 Remastered, then the season pass looks worth it.

All it says is " you can’t get Modern Warfare without owning Infinite Warfare". This still doesn't state anything different than what we already knew.

Really, it wouldn't surprise me if it is just a digital code, and it verifies with PSN with the retail disc, but there just isn't enough info about it. I was really hoping for a remastered trilogy, which I could still see happening at some point.

I hope that enough people can speak with their wallets and avoid buying this game, no matter how hard it will be to pass up a MW1 Remaster.

I personally will be skipping this installment until it's very cheap. After the BF1 trailer I'm not much interested in any other competitive upcoming military shooter.

It's bad enough that you have to buy Infinite Warfare to get MW Remastered, but this is on another level. With all the bad reputation and publicity IW is getting I really don't think it would be wise to actually go ahead with this...

Also lemme just say that I'm actually looking forward to both games and I think £60 for IW and MW Remastered is an awesome deal.

The cod community is in the midst of a nervous breakdown, trying to reassure itself that everything will be ok, all while knowing exactly why these issues have become so large.

 

If this doesn't sit well with you, don't give Activision you're money. Battlefield is a growing community, and the diversity of the game will potentially cover all playstyles, look at the CTE subreddit, if you want to play a community centric title, the answer is very clearly made.     That doesn't mean MW Remastered can run without the IW disc. It'd be fairly simple for Activision to program MW to check for the disk, sort of like requiring a serial number or something.
