Which article are you looking at? That article is wrong though, almost nobody uses that definition due to Frankfurt Cases.

Nope, they specify it as theory neutral as a point of departure so they can then discuss why people are compatibilists.

The single best resource available online for this sort of thing explicitly claims it's a theory neutral definition.

There's been no evidence to support anything like that reading. Forg1ven was constantly interacting in a positive manner with teammates in everything public, and no teammate really gripes about him after the fact.

From my experience, someone who has depression is less likely to realize they're being treated like shit because they so often have a low opinion of themselves in the first place.

Varies. Sometimes you'll realize but also think you deserve it, sometimes you'll think normal behavior is people judging you, etc.
