Because the community should be purchasing games that promote experimentation, games that actually take risks instead of the same thing year after year. It stagnates the entire industry, and gives EVERYONE shitty versions of the same fucking game. What you purchase for yourself affects everyone else, and people who buy CoD every year do not realize this or choose to completely ignore it and shrug off any sense of consumer responsibility.

But, that's really just your opinion, you know?

It's reality: the games we pay for are the games we get. CoD is a pedestrian series that does nothing to innovate or change the FPS genre. But, the more money that gets thrown at Activision, the less incentive they have for taking risks (along with every other developer/publisher).

It's like McDonalds. There's nothing particularly bad about McDonalds, but what if EVERYONE ate there over every other restaurant? The market adjusts for the demand for more fast food, and other restaurants start going out of business or conforming to the McDonalds model, resulting in fewer healthy options for food. You don't see how that would be a problem?
