Ok just playing "Devils" advocate here. Ran an errand the other day and was gonna get coffee. On Route there's Starbucks and another local coffee shop. I say screw Starbucks I am gonna support the local place who actually does have amazing coffee.

First off they have no drive thru so it's gonna take a few minutes. Also unfortunately the largest size they have is 16 ounces (iced coffee) . Also it still costs 5 dollars. Then the machine won't scan my card. The I am guilted into giving them a tip. Then it takes 10 minutes to make it. Also they forgot the sweetener. I say oh don't worry about it. Then she's like we'll you paid for it. I'm like ok fine put it in. Then she nearly spills it! And I finish the entire drink before even getting to my car.

So yea SB might be kind of snooty and their coffee is overrated but they do have their shit together. Of course even they pale in comparison to DD where you need only make an audible grunt to get they exact coffee you want, which is usually done before you are even finished paying.

I used to live on the east coast, and Dunks was the shit.

Then I moved out west. Dunks tastes like diarrhea in a cup out here. It's awful. No matter what you request, you get a cup half full of coffee and half full of highly sweetened cream. I haven't had Dunks in years...

I am from the Boston area and have actually been to the original "Dunks" and find Dunkin' Donuts to be god awful. Dunkin' Donuts is considered some holy grail here in the area, but its all smoke and mirrors. People only like it because it is spammed on the streets of Massachusetts and they branded it as Boston's coffee. People from around here circle jerk the shit out of anything related to Boston. The beans could be filtered through horseshit and as long as you toss in the word Boston or place some advertising with a Boston professional athlete holding a cup of horsehit coffee around town - then it will sell.

Dunkin' Donuts is over priced, considering the quality one gets. Starbucks charges a premium for a far better and richer coffee. If you are going to dumpster dive your coffee, you may as well go to McDonalds and grab yourself a $1.00 Iced Coffee, which depending on the location offers a better tasting iced coffee - in my opinion. Hell even blind taste tests has McDonald's Newman's Own beating Dunkin' Donuts.

Could not disagree more. I live in Boston. There are 5 Dunkin Donuts within a mile of me at all times. I can safely say that 4/5 are fucking shit holes no mater where in the city I am. Their coffee is mediocre on a good day at a good location. 80% of the time its simultaneously burnt and watered down. Their food is even worse. Their egg sandwiches are like a rubber microwaved egg with plastic bacon and Orange Cheese Product™ on a stale bagel. You could literally get better hash browns at your grocers freezer and microwave them yourself unless you're so lazy that you need to have the hung over high school student at Dunks do it for you. Starbucks may be over priced and mediocre, but at least their coffee is consistent (their food sucks too).

I will respond to you anecdotal experience with one of my own.

At our local SB, sure it has a drive through but I would not call it quicker. Is usually packed with mom's in yoga pants driving their mini vans, wrapped nearly 1.5 times around the store. Not to mention the baristas couldn't tell you the difference b/t a latte and a cappuccino if their lives depended on it.

I am happy with my local coffee shop where the owner takes the time to learn your name and what you like. There's no guilt needed for a tip there.

They didnt have simple syrup or another alternative set out to sweeten your coffee? I've also never done a drive through coffee. I'm never in that much of a rush. Always cut out time for good coffee. Plus I always just get a pour over or cortado, dont have to worry about sweetners or flavor.

Sure not all local shops have their shit together, some are even worse than SB in terms of quality. But I never go there anymore.

A good service experience is important, but it doesn't compensate for a bad product. As I understand it, Starbucks burns their beans so their coffee has a uniform flavor, which I think is utter horse shit. They just know that most people don't notice or care, because they're going to get a giant cup of sugar and cream anyway and the coffee is secondary. Most people who go to starbucks don't care what the coffee tastes like. They're not there for the coffee, they're there for the sugar, cream and caramel syrup. The coffee itself suuuuuccccckkkkssss.
They over roast the beans because a darker roast makes a darker coffee which means a higher yield, so it costs them less to make per cup.

Yes, your local coffee shop charges about the same, but their coffee is actually good.

This morning I turned on my coffee maker before getting in the shower. It was ready by the time I got out. Cost about 20 cents to make my favorite brand/flavor. Put it in the exact amount and type of creamer that I like. Spent less time and money than if I had stopped somewhere, but I guess I didn't get the satisfaction of knowing I made someone do the work for me.

    Only two of those are fedoras (hint: it's the last two). Most "fedora" wearing neckbeard types wear trilbys, such as the one Inspector Clouseau is wearing in your first example.

    As /u/thefleeingpigeon mentions, fedoras (or trilbys) in and of themselves aren't cringey, it's the ensemble that makes or breaks them.

        No, it's just that 95% of those who wear it look incredibly bad. For instance, recently I was boarding a flight and while waiting in line, the fat lady in front of me had the same haircut, but with pink highlights, and she was watching Beyonce and Rihanna music videos on her phone the whole time we were waiting. She also had tats. And was like 50 yrs old. Needless to say I was harder than a towel rack, and fellow passengers had to repeatedly discourage my attempts at mounting her.

        I don't think that's quite true, not everyone who I've seen with undercuts are particularly unattractive, however, there are many different styles of undercut and while I'll admit some look fly as hell, others annoy the crap out of me. For example, I hated Natalie Dormer's undercut as well as Scarlett Johansen's and I most certainly wouldn't call them unattractive women. On the other hand I am particularly fond of the style where there's a pixie cut and an undercut on one side or the other.

                          I don't either, but these kinds of hairstyles are amongst many other things I like but wouldn't want in a woman. There are many things I like that I wouldn't necessarily associate myself with. Snapbacks. Skinny jeans. All white sneakers. Biker-esque leather jackets. iMacs. Bankers. Lesbians. Extreme hairstyles. You name it.

                            Am I the only one that thinks this /s trend on reddit is awful? Using /s to define sarcasm takes away from the wit involved to identify sarcasm.                             It is horrible. And whenever you voice this opinion, someone goes "But le Poe's Law!! XD XD" Who cares if some oblivious idiots don't recognize the sarcasm? You don't need to tailor your comments to them. It's pretty easy to communicate sarcasm through proper phrasing, formatting and punctuation. The sarcasm tag is just lazy and destroys all humor.

                                I though the difference between the two was that a mobius strip had a single face and an infinite edge whereas a klein bottle has a single face but no edge, like a sphere (as in, a sphere has no edge not that it has a single face). But topography isn't my forte so I could very well be wrong
