LUKASZ Fabianski has revealed he will miss Swansea City's final-day clash with Manchester City as he takes a break before Euro 2016.

At one stage the Poland international had seemed set to join Ashley Williams, Neil Taylor and Gylfi Sigurdsson in sitting out last weekend's win over West Ham United as well as the City clash.

Fabianski opted to play at the Boleyn Ground, but he will be absent as Francesco Guidolin's men bring the curtain down on the season next Sunday.

Swansea are keen for those players heading off to the European Championship to get a rest now because there will be a limited amount of the time for holidays after the tournament.

"I was asked if I wanted to play (at West Ham) or not, but I had trained all week so I said I did," Fabianski said.

"It was not really about staying sharp ahead of the Euros — West Ham is a great stadium and I just wanted to play.

"I will go away now and have a break. Other players wanted a rest (before West Ham), but I wanted to wait.

"I will go away now and then prepare for the summer."

Fabianski has played every Premier League game this season up until now.

In fact he has missed just one top-flight fixture — through suspension — since joining Swansea from Arsenal in the summer of 2014.

But that tally will be doubled this weekend, with Kristoffer Nordfeldt in line for a long-awaited Premier League debut against a City side who will come to Wales in search of points as they try to qualify for the Champions League.

Fabianski, meantime, reckons Swansea's performances have improved under Francesco Guidolin.

The Italian's Liberty future is in doubt, with the short-term contract he signed in January set to expire after the City game.

"It's not my decision really — I'm just a player," Fabianski said.

"It's down to the chairman and down to the board what they do. We will see.

"You can clearly see as a team and a group of players that we have picked up. Not only points-wise, I think performances have improved.

"In the first half of the season we struggled a bit so you can clearly see the work he has done has paid off."

After a difficult season for all concerned at Swansea, Fabianski signed off in style at the Boleyn Ground.

He was beaten by a Stephen Kingsley own goal, but made a couple of impressive saves as Guidolin's men chalked up their most comprehensive win of the campaign.

"After 10 minutes at the start of the first half, I thought we were completely in control of the game, we took our chances really well and the scoreline could have been even higher," he said.

"We are very pleased with the performance and the three points.

"It's always difficult for players who don't play that often. They are always waiting for that opportunity. On Saturday there was a chance against a really tough opponent.

"I think everyone deserves massive credit for the way they played."
