Very close-minded title. Why?

[–]Nezaus[S] -2ポイント-1ポイント  (5子コメント)

its sadly factual not closed-minded, read up on the life of Mohammed or Muhammed the man muslims believe to be a prophet, he really was one nasty piece of work - that is fact. and btw drawing him is not banned in islam, unlike what the mainstream media tells you. Check the link for Islamic Depictions of Mohammed in Full. http://www.zombietime.com/mohammed_image_archive/islamic_mo_full/

That as may be, but to mention all that in the title is rather confrontational, don't you think? It doesn't invite others of the same religion to read into the stories of these ex-muslims to investigate and decide for themselves if they want to abandon their faith or not.

Instead titles like that has a tendency to entrench them deeper into their religion. If you want to see more people leaving their religion behind, than this is seriously not the way.

conftontational is not closed-minded though, is it?

Good point. I used the wrong word in my first comment.

I think people should be told that their religious icon marries and fucks children. I mean, I surely wouldn't still hang out with a pedophile but you've all got your own lies to tell yourselves.

[–]madjo 3ポイント4ポイント  (0子コメント)

I wouldn't want to hang out with such a person either.

But it still is monumentally stupid to entrench people when you can try to inspire them, and convince them of the validity of your arguments.

Please explain how Muhammad did not go to war and did not fuck and marry a child bride. Please "open" our minds. I'll be waiting for your defense of child rape....

[–]madjo 4ポイント5ポイント  (2子コメント)

I'm not defending ANY of that. I'm merely saying that by using that kind of language, you cut people off, turn them away from your point, however valid it might be. You want more people to be open minded, let them come to the same conclusions on their own time.

Don't beat them in with a baseball bat.

I get what you are saying, and for the most part agree with you, but how do you really sugarcoat child rape?

My suggestion in this thread's case. Don't mention it at the first go.
You show "The Faces of Atheism-Tumbler, the brave ex-muslims and apostates who decided to follow their own path" and have their stories inspire others to become ex-whatever-religion-they're-following, and let them discover the child rape and the war mongering in their religion's history. And only then offer those people places to talk about that.

There's a time and a place for that discussion, but it's not at the first meeting. And it's certainly not at the time when you share a link meant to inspire others.

*edit*
I just grabbed this link from the Tumblr itself:

Seems like wise words to me.
