"I don't know what to make of your comment because most people don't agree on what is left and right let alone what is libertarian anymore. I guess most people argue from how things "ought" to be from their perspective. I consider myself a pure libertarian and everything else is just postmodern bullshit designed to lure people into communism. I reject all postmodern definitions as propaganda and meaningless because they are all really just variations on taking individual rights away from people.
The pre-postmodernist meaning of libertarian (a pure libertarian) is, to the best of my knowledge, a free market ideology and lots of people would call that right. There's nothing wrong with the honest accumulation of wealth to a pure libertarian, it's cronyism and government protection and socialism that is an affront to libertarianism. Government protect is what creates monopolies in most cases.
There's nothing wrong with people protecting one's property with guns either. So I suspect you are getting your meaning of what is libertarian from postmodern schools of thought. I would very much be interested in you clarifying what you think is left, right, and libertarian. I don't want to argue definitions with you, I just want to understand what you are saying."
I originally put this in the sub "Best of Outrage Culture". I thought the people who post on here would get a kick out of it. According to this guy's logic, some form of post-modernism would have to have been around when the communist states of the USSR and Cuba were formed. It's probably best for a meta-discussion. Wouldn't "Pre-post-modern" be the modern? What bizarre reasoning.
Poor guy. He's probably going to try to vote for Rand Paul or Paul Ryan. It might be like in 1992 when Ross Perot stole a significant amount of votes from the GOP candidate. That is, if they split it that way. I'm a little uniformed as to how they are going to try and fit a 3rd party libertarian candidate in there. Actually, I only recently heard about this on Bill Maher's show, so I might actually be the one spouting badpolitics. Oh, the irony. Oh well. I'm ok with being wrong as long as I learn in the process.
