Pretty much, they openly said in /r/metasubredditdrama that they were mostly targeting comments from SRS/CB/ghazi posters because they were afraid removing "DAE SRD=SRS" posts would be seen as banning dissent.

If I had to guess I think their reasoning is that SRD should be "above" the drama but that only makes sense when it's bullshit like /r/food arguing about how to cook steak.

Which is wildly boring. Those threads are seriously just wall to wall "HAHAHAHA BUTTER AND SALT ARE ALSO FOODS GOD THIS IS FUNNY" for hundreds of comments, it's a wasteland. I can't imagine what kind of idiot enjoys that and I'm confused why you'd want to cultivate large groups of them

Well they had a sort of ok one going for a while. Then through a series of baffling decisions they chased them off and replaced it with people from the defaults and now it's bad when it isn't boring

Mods are totally down with polite genocide, and totally not ok with calling a rapist a rapist. This is what happens when, as you correctly point out, are ok with users from the defaults being an active and loud component of your sub.

Any sub without vigorous moderation against assholes is going to wind up eventually being all assholes.

It's that very reddity thing where you pretend you're an enlightenment thinker sitting at this round table with other extra smart logicians and you're hashing out the topics of the day using logic and reason and trading wig powder. You can't call that rape advocate a rapist, that's an ad hominem! What you may do is refute his long itemized list of why rape might be a good thing using logic. If you are unwilling to conduct yourself in a rational manor we will be forced to ask you to leave (the nerve of some people!)
