Could have thrown his bib on the ground and made negative headlines but didn't. Credit to him for taking it well

tbf if he had done that i'd call him a childish twat and would be pretty ok with the manager turfing him.

he handled it well but that reaction is the behaviour that you expect.

And jeopardise his reputation and reinforce a "prima donna" attitude to all future coaches? Yeah credit to him for being... normal and respecting his boss' decision.

He was smiling at the end too. It's just one of those things that happens at times. Hopefully he does well enough in training to earn a spot next time we play.

This would incident made Martial laugh.

I feel like he only smiled because the cameras were on him and Martial was laughing.

If I was him I'd be annoyed inside. Especially when Lingard and Memphis were poor all game

Any player would be annoyed, but it makes sense. If we need to defend you don't throw Januzaj on

I'm sure he understands that 1: Mata just scored so it was not the right time to do the sub and 2: Carrick was hurt and he's not the best replacement for Carrick

It's Memphis who was awful though. Not Mata

But Januzaj was initially coming on for Mata but then Mata scored

I thought it was Lingard he was coming on for

Not the point. We took the lead so didn't need an attacking sub, which is why Schneiderlin came on next instead.

You guys are being dramatic and it seems some people who are making it a big deal haven't played competitively before. I'm pretty sure he understands a player with his attributes wasn't needed at that point. His confidence wouldn't be affected, maybe sad he couldn't get on but we only have 3 subs and didn't make 1 offensive sub.

This sub dramatic? Never!

Post match thread top comment actually angry that there was no push for a second. Some proper retards on here.

Hope he gets more play time soon, he deserved that at the very least

Might as well start him in the west ham match right? If martial isn't fit why not give him a go.

[–]MadaraTheUchihaI wanna be the very BEST 1

He took it pretty well I thought.

[–]ManUToasterDiego Forlan 1

Why would it be a blow to his confidence? He was first choice to come in but then we had to make two tactical changes... If that was a blow to his confidence that would be on him really.

His face right at the end is so depressing

I like to think that he understood the decision LVG made there he'd be disappointed but it was the right call.

Other than a handful of the top comments, almost every other comment is having a number of downvotes.

Mostly for giving Januzaj a ton of hate or for deviating away from topic and shitting on Lingard and Memphis.

Gotta respect the players a little bit

Carrick was a forced substitution since he's picked up a knock

[–]Bilal_7_KhanSeaGullsOfMedia 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

Does anybody have a gif of this whole incident?

Januzaj told he's coming on twice only for the manager to change his mind twice.

Talk about knocking somebody when their down.

Lucky to even be on the bench anyway tbh

A victim of LVG's frustrating attitude. Always plays it safe when we don't need to.

If when 1-0 up away from home against a team desperately trying their best to equalise is not when you need to play it safe, when is the right time?

this is where the United fans standard has been falling to shit.

Before when we go up 1-0 it would be to go forward get another goal and end the fucking game right there and then. Now we have a piece of shit coward manager who chicken out of an offensive subtitution because he's afraid the opponent would score, are you fucking kidding me? Are we actually scared of a relegation team who've been doing jack shit throughout the game? We're fucking Man Utd!!!

And the fans on this subreddit are defending that coward act. You realize how many points have we lost to that attitude after getting the opening goal?

There was two minutes to go.

Ferguson replicated this 'coward act' numerous times. It's squeaky bum time, not champagne football time. In the run-in, only results matter.

NO!NO!NO!

Adnan was first called to come in right before the goal, at about the 73' mark!! After the goal the Dutch wanker chickened out and called it off.

And he called him up the 2nd time too

He was coming on for Mata then.

Keeping on the goalscorer is surely the more offensive option.

And even then, only 17 minutes to go... The rest of my last comment still stands.

that's exactly what I was talking about. The standard, the mentality is fucking shit! The past 3 seasons have been shit because of this.

17 years ago on Monday Ferguson pulled Yorke into midfield to help stop Middlesbrough's attacks going down the wing with around 20 minutes to go.

We were only 1-0 up and my 8 year old self didn't understand why he was pulling out top scorer into midfield to defend at the time. Why not go for the clinching goal?

We held out. We won 1-0. And won the treble because of such a 'coward act.'

In May, only results matter.

That was the 2nd time he was sat down. The first, with 13+ mins left, was typical LVG. Instead of trying to seal the win, he sought to retreat. Doing it with a few mins left, I can understand. If this was a one-off, fair enough. But trying to always play for the 1-0 has cost us many times under him.

Who do you think he was coming on for then?

It certainly wouldn't have been Carrick (it was Mata). At best we would have remained at the same level of attacking play, but in truth we would have been worse off.

We even created more once he brought on Schneiderlin and our shape allowed for a more counter attacking style of play.
