Firstly, our away fans are amazing, in every game.

Secondly, we were unlucky with the Martial and Darmian injuries. Nothing to be done about that. But leaving Rashford at home? Resting him with 4 games left? I don't understand.

The positives:

Most importantly, we won. However it happened, that's always the bottom line. It was a game we absolutely had to win and we did. Now, we need Arsenal to do us a favour which, I have absolutely no faith in.

Borthwick Jackson came on and did well. He looks solid, confident and capable. He'll make a good back up to Luke Shaw next season.

Jerome didn't play well because Smalling had him in his pocket from the 5th minute onwards. How he missed that header is anyone's guess.

Negatives:

LVG has been in charge for 100 games and I feel like I've seen that match 80 times. What's left to be said that hasn't been already? Slow, dull, boring. No pace, power or penetration. No fight, heart or desire. The fact that the Smalling header was our best chance in the first half sums it up.

For people that haven't seen or heard, that was the 20th league game of the season in which we were drawing 0-0 at half time.

It's up to you whether you think scoring a goal is enough to deserve your place in the team. I think, the fact Mata got an appearance bonus for that game is an incedible injustice. Yes, he was playing wide right, in a position that a lot of people, myself included, feel reduces his threat significantly. But he did nothing before the goal, or after. Like I said, many people will say "Well he scored and that's enough" If that's your opinion, then okay. I mean, Owen Hargreaves gave him Man of the Match so I'm probably in the minority.

Before the game, I did everything I could to believe that Memphis would step up. How wrong was I? He didn't look concerned. How the hell did he make it through 90 minutes???

Rooney was quiet, yes, but the nearest red shirt was in Ipswich. We were hoofing balls up to him in the hope that he'd get on to them. No one offered him any help or support. At half time, my mum said, in response to Martial getting injured, "Isn't Rooney playing?" Exactly, mum. Exactly.

Rojo isn't a defender. Or, he thinks he's Cafu and doesn't have to defend.

I feel sorry for Carrick and Herrera. Every time they got the ball, they were faced by a garden of statues. No one wanted to move. No one wanted to run. Everyone ahead of them wanted the ball to feet.

If you'd have stepped into this game with no idea of the stakes, you'd have thought it was an end of season dead rubber. The fact that we HAD to win and we put in that kind of performance, says more than I could. But, we won. And we could go into the game on Tuesday knowing that the top 4 is only 2 wins away.
