Canada isn't actually taking in that many refugees. It is incredibly weird how sane the immigration policy is in Canada compare to the rest of the world. For one, illegals who do not hold appropriate visas or have permanent residency can't access schools or hospitals. And as for the refugees, they are only taking in 30, 000 but only women, children (under 16) and husbands who accompany those women and children.
Also, the likelihood of a normal american who isn't famous and wants to move to canada will find that canada is pretty hard to immigrate to. You either need to be highly educated and have skills that are in demand by the labor market, or have family up here who can afford to sponsor you (but family reunification takes a long time).

    The interesting thing about the Cosby story is he was the only black man in America standing up telling the black community to take responsibility for themselves, and surprise surprise, the president himself came out to condemn him before the facts were in.
    Many of the claims are clearly false. Many are unverifiable and sound awful, but I'm reserving judgment due to the clear Soros camp character assassination that occurred.

    Personally since the beginning i've believed that at least 90% of the claims are fake, especially since they came pouring in by the bucket load and almost every single one was either outside of the statue of limitations or simply hearsay.
    I don't believe a single one has physical evidence to back it up, just pure hearsay and "eyewitness" accounts.
    I personally believe one or two may be true, but since some were in the age of drugs its possible they may be crying rape for money. But thats my own belief, right or wrong its what i think.

    I know Stewart has a left-ish tilt to him, but I really think that he's not bound to any party. His focus has always been on poking at the corruption in politics. That's why he was so hard on the Bush admin for 8 years (which is also when he became famous).
    As for the 'leave to canada'. It was a joke. At an awards show he said "if trump wins I'll get in a rocket and leave the planet, because clearly we would have gone bonkers".

      Historically it hasn't worked.
      Socialism gives the government MORE power, something that even Bernie supporters shouldn't want, since they think all politicians are corrupt.
      I have and do work for the government, anything the government does, the private sector does better. Government is bogged down, over budget, and they assume they have infinite money (since they basically do) so they don't care about deadlines.
      Socialism leads to less personal freedom, look at tax rates in Denmark, censorship in Germany and Sweden, laws barring anyone under 18 from buying even a kitchen knife in the UK.
      And there isn't a socialist country that has more benefits than a Democratic country.
      What BENEFITS does a socialist country have that could possibly out weight a Democratic one? The US is an economic powerhouse, and its not because of the government.

      Sorry for the late reply, I wanted to type this and literally just sat down at my computer at like 11pm.
      So I lived there while we still used the Mark, and were switching over to the Euro. I was fairly young so politics wasn't a direct interest to me, but my whole mothers side still lives there so I hear from them all the time now that I'm more aware of political nuances.
      Right off the bat, illegal immigrants suck. Gotta get that out of the way. From like 2000-2010 it was actually Turkish immigrants. They would get work visas or tourist visas for like 3-6 months, and then just stay past the deadline of their visa and never get kicked out. When I lived there everything was VERY modern. Not like modern looking, but everyone was friendly, no beggers, clean streets, etc. Now when I go back to visit there's a house that Turkish squatters stay in right down the road from my uncle (maybe 5 houses down). They're all illegal. The house is falling apart. It's literally right infront of the train tacks so it's an eye sore. And my uncle said they cause problems if you go around there at night because they stand outside and smoke and harass people. The streets in Koeln have more beggars than I've ever seen there. Not like millions, but probably 50-100 throughout the city. That was never a thing before. And now it's only getting worse.
      But as for the actual SOCIALISM aspect of the country. Sure it was easy when they were an economic powerhouse in Europe on the Mark. They had great exports (all the German companies produced in Germany, which made the Germans relatively well off) compared to the rest of Europe, they were shrinking their debt and their currency was taking off. Then they joined the EU. Now they are basically working on a group project that no one else is helping on, instead of doing an individual assignment. Some social programs that people like my Uncle or Grandma had to take for granted are being scaled back or changed. The economy can't boom like it used to, since the currency is dependent on the economic success of other lazy fuck countries like Spain and Greece. Waves of immigrants have access to socialized healthcare. When my grandma broke her hip she had to wait 3 weeks to get a doctors appointment. Not like 3 weeks to fix it. 3 weeks for the X-ray. THEN another 2 months to get to a surgeon to fix it.
      On top of that, my uncle makes pretty decent money (he works for a TV station) but he gets taxed out the ass. And some of the things are programs/services he doesn't use/need or care about. He'd rather put away for his retirement. He's going to be working well into his 70's at least part time. Even my 74 year old grandmother still has a part time job because she can't cover all her normal expenses with her retirement.
      I wanted to live over there for a while but I couldn't even find a job (I'm a computer engineer) because everyone there has to be so specialized to even be competitive for positions like that. Most jobs are tracks starting from year 1 of Uni going to an internship and then a job with that company. And that's even for my cousin who is a secretary. She answers phones. And JUST got approved for the job a month ago. And she's 25.
      They have benefits. But they also have draw backs. I talk to all of my family there all the time, and they always say "I wish we could move to America with your parents". They've been telling me that ever since we got here.

      Thank you for the reply, my man. I really like seeing the perspective of people who actually know what things are like. I agree that illegal immigrants suck, and that we need to stop their coming into America. However the current system for legally coming here sucks ass (I've spent a lot of time talking to people in San Diego who've gone through the hoops to get here, and I studied abroad in Mexico and knew a lot of people trying to migrate legally). I'm a big proponent of making it more stream-lined and efficient (and safer), because I do believe that immigrants who come here to learn and work and generate revenue are actually good for the country as a whole.
      Also that story of your Grandma's hip is fucked up. I don't think prices in America are good, and healthcare needs a revolution (to quote the Bern). And in my home state (Kentucky) Obamacare actually seemed to do pretty alright, especially in the Appalachians. But with cheaper/free healthcare it becomes impossible to get quality and speed (see: Canada).
      I don't know the answers in the least to any of these subjects, which is why I asked for your experience/input. And I value it greatly, so thank you. You've made me like this Trump guy a little more than I did before. Or at least his ideas.

      My mom was an immigrant to the states. It took her almost 9 years to get her citizenship. I don't think there's much wrong with the system at all. You can get short term work visas for certain programs. Student visas are abundant. And we hand out H1B visas like they're candy and its Halloween. Personally I'm not a fan of how many H1B visas we give out since we use them for cheap labor in the tech sector which drives down quality (I'm a comp engineer so I literally deal with this daily). But we make it hard for people to come into the US that wouldnt be able to contribute to the US.
      If you're a poor immigrant from Mexico with no education and no money, why should we let you into the US as a citizen? You wouldn't have a good life here. You'd need to take out $40,000+ in loans to go to college. Or you'd end up working a job at a place like a convenient store making $20,000 per year, probably trying to support a family. Those jobs are the lowest rung of society, and I'd rather have them available for downtrodden Americans who need them. Immigrants with degrees or jobs have a much easier time getting US citizenship. Because we know they will have more success, and a much easier time, than an immigrant without a degree.
      Also, it's not like the US is the only country to immigrate to. People can immigrate to any country, we don't have to loosen our immigration policy if we're in a period of economic recovery.
      I have mixed feelings about Obamacare. I loved the idea initially but after it got bastardized by both parties through the house and Senate it came out looking nothing like it was meant to. The absolute BEST thing it did was allow people with preexisting conditions to get health insurance. Now, granted, that drastically increased the price for everyone else. But it's healthcare, if I ever get cancer I want to be able to find insurance afterward, should I survive. As for the availability, it kind of sucks, because it got certain healthcare companies to sign on as providers but they're dropping out because it's losing them a Tom of money. What I'd like to see is the entire bill stricken down to just one line, "Health insurance providers will not deny coverage to customers based on a preexisting condition". And then open up healthcare competition.
      Right now you can only get healthcare on a state by state level. Sure some is offered in different states, but it's largely a state competition. If blue Cross blue shield isn't offered in Virginia, but it is in Maryland, I can't buy it for my health insurance, because I have a Virginia address. Even if it might be better than Cigna or whatever I have now. Since there's an effective monopoly in most states, being allowed to buy insurance across state lines would force the prices down, or some innovations in the healthcare market that I'd love to see. I'm a firm believer that competition breeds innovation.

      There's a large difference between government sponsored programs and government run programs. Medicare? Uses 30 private industry healthcare companies. Saying that democracy and socialism aren't two separate things is like saying blue paint and red paint aren't two separate things.
      Believe me, none of the Bernie propaganda you regurgitate is going to convince me. Because it's wrong. You haven't ACTUALLY learned about it. You take what someone tells you at face value because it fits your beliefs.
      FDR was socialist? He put government money towards programs that leveraged the private sector. Government sponsorship != Socialism. Socialism would be what Bernie proposes, with a single payer government RUN healthcare system. And it would be a disaster.
      Government sponsored programs, like Medicare/Medicaid, can work. But again, private insurance works even better. Because it's literally the exact same thing, minus all the government beurocracy.
      So, yeah. Democracy and free markets have given us the most rapid advancements in technology, science, social progress, and literally anything else you enjoy. But sure reference an FDR program without understanding that it's not socialism as part of your argument. You really need to educate yourself on these topics, not repeat whatever headline buzzfeed printed last year. Really dig into what they say and I guarantee you'll understand why it's wrong.

      Socialism is very much a political ideology. I should hope I don't have to explain that to you. Literally just read the definition. It's defined by Democratic control of the means of production and the political ideologies that aim at their establishment. Many of the drawbacks of socialism are directly related to controlling the means of production, the end goal of socialism. It strangles entrepreneurship, and empowers the government far beyond what anything short of Communist dictatorships do.

Preventing Federal Reserve member banks (banks backed by the government) from dealing in non-governmental securities and underwriting or distributing non-governmental securities is not socialist.
