Vincent Janssen (15th of June 1994) is a Dutch footballer who plays as a striker.
At 15 years of age he got a move to Feyenoord, where he became top scorer in the league and won the title. He wasn’t allowed to stay because Feyenoord thought he wasn’t good enough. Janssen was devastated, he really wanted to play on the highest level of football in Holland. In 2013 he was signed by Almere City. He worked really hard and after 2 years it paid off. He got a move to AZ Alkmaar (2015/2016 season). He scored on his Eredivisie debut and due to his great work ethic he is now the top scorer in the Eredivisie with 26 goals. On the 29th of March 2016 Vincent made his official starting debut against England. In front of 90.000 people he scored his first international goal, and later in the match assisted the 2-1 as well. The most goals he’s scored in one match is 4, on 16th of April 2016 against PEC Zwolle (5-1 FT)
He’s two-footed, his favorite being his left. His coach told him to train with his other foot a lot because his left foot was developed really well already. Janssen is really good in hold-up play. He uses his body to protect the ball, and has no problems with holding off defenders. He also has good vision to spot his teammates’ runs.
He isn’t pacey, but pretty skillful. He uses flicks and tricks when they are useful, and is a pretty good dribbler as well. No Neymar-esque moves though. For his stature he is pretty limber.
Janssen should improve his situational awareness when it comes to offside, although he has improved that over the course of this season.
All in all, he’s everything you would want from a striker bar his pace. I personally think he’s not ready for the Premier League yet. He has only got 1 season of Eredivisie matches under his belt, and he needs more development before he is ready for a big step up.
And a ScoutNation video which shows some of his best moments this season.
(I don’t have any capturing software otherwise I would’ve made a goals video myself. I also have never done this before so if it's a shit report, sorry.)
