It's clearly not the accepted terminology in the context in which it was used, considering the response.

It's really not a context problem. Were we to discuss blackness in the same context, the response would not have been the same.

Well, you've put yourself in a box by saying you're powerless to the luxury of democracy as a minority.

No, I speak to reality. The reality is that the GOP has intentionally sought to marginalize my vote as a minority.

Trump has employed women and minorities for decades and anecdotally they state he's been a great leader and mentor. The article you've linked discusses Trump trying to block welfare recipients from living in his properties, and while as a policy it may have been targeted at minorities, it was also in 1973.

You might want to re-read the article.

America, New York and yes, even Donald Trump has changed in 43 years.

Has he? Really?

Besides, he doesn't even relate to black people as human beings. Who calls a group of people "the blacks"?

Is the truth bigotry? Whiteness as a concept didn't exist until a few hundred years ago.

You may have the luxury of thinking that way. As a minority, I do not. Trump would be a disaster of epic proportions for minorities and women.

edit: His actions speak louder than any words.

Conflicted...I echo what /u/_stillz_ said about group projects and working with who you've got, but I'm gonna echo what I say to piss off conservatives because, well, it's the truth:

President Obama is the best Republican president we've had since Eisenhower.

Now don't get me wrong; he's also probably the best Democratic President we've had since JFK too, but I'm just sayin'. The first black President could've done a little more for black and other minority issues.

That works for you, and that's fine. It doesn't work for every minority. Protest voting in 2000 netted eight years of George W. Bush, which was catastrophic on so many different issues, and devastating from a SCOTUS perspective in that we got Alito and Roberts.

Sometimes better is the enemy of good.

Yes, you have.

Nope. The phone feels like it's metal. The phone does not give a "special" feel. Two non-contradictory statements.

It's a figure of speech.

It was an attempt to dismiss my arguments as biased, while not acknowledging your own bias, so you can "win". Well, consider this a "win," because I am not interested in arguing this point any further.

Uhh nothing. I have not contradicted myself.

And I'm not "in love with" my phone, nor am I stuck with it thanks to Jump on Demand. I'm just tired of the hyperbolic reactions to the phone's coating not making it feel "special."

Android 内の Tootum によるリンク Why you should get a G5

If I bought a car that claimed to have leather seats, and it turned out that they had a permanent stitched-on fabric overlay, I'd feel a little misled.

Except that the phone still feels like metal.

People were interested in the fact that the G5 claimed to be metal because of the implications that had with durability and how the device feels in the hand. The selling point wasn't "aww yeah, you can't tell, but this phone is technically made of a thin sheet of metal!"

It's not a "thin sheet of metal." It's a metal frame with a thin coating on it.

LG got in trouble with the G5 with misleading claims about the phones construction

The phone is constructed with a metal body, just as LG says it is. The only thing "misleading" about the phone is that LG didn't mention the painted coating.

The only thing I can say to you is seriously? Have you read a book on US history since the propaganda they taught you in high school?

Are you sure you want to go there? I'm not the one claiming that every president since FDR was a waste of breath.

JFK wanted to go to the moon but Dwight D. Eisenhower created NASA if you want to give credit to a post FDR President.

Excellent! Add Eisenhower to the list. It was still JFK's push that got us to the moon.

LBJ was a bigot who did was politically expedient at the time,

No, you don't get to dismiss LBJ like that, bigot or not. The CRA was far from "politically expedient", and LBJ made a concerted effort to get it passed.

Nixon expanded Vietnam killing over a million people so YAY to the EPA.

Way to ignore the point being made.

Obama got a shit bill passed without a public option

Which was still better that the shit reality we were dealing with beforehand.

And if Hillary was so pro Universal healthcare, why is she so opposed now?

That's funny; her voting record suggests exactly the opposite.

And Reagan...I can't even....

Calm down. I'm not saying that Reagan wasn't a horrible president--he absolutely was--but even he managed to do something positive for the American people, which you claimed was impossible since we haven't had a "for the people" president since FDR.

But hey, why bother to listen to anything I say? You've clearly got your mind made up. President Trump for everyone, amiright?!?

politics 内の atomicpete によるリンク Most Clinton Voters Like Bernie Sanders. Most Sanders Voters Don’t Like Hillary Clinton.

[–]xdre 9ポイント10ポイント  (0子コメント)

Right which is why we have to go back to Roosevelt to see someone who was truly for the people and not for their own ambition.

No we don't. JFK got us to the moon. LBJ signed the CRA. Nixon created the EPA. Obama got major movement on healthcare for the first time since Hillary's universal healthcare proposal was blocked by Republicans (speaking of major differences between her, Trump and Cruz!) in the 90's. Reagan even managed to nominate Sandra Day O'Connor.

We haven't been moving in the consistent right direction for more than 50 years.

And the answer to that is to move even further in the wrong direction by allowing Trump or Cruz to become president because Hillary's not a perfect candidate? And you accuse me of not taking things seriously?

politics 内の atomicpete によるリンク Most Clinton Voters Like Bernie Sanders. Most Sanders Voters Don’t Like Hillary Clinton.

[–]xdre 8ポイント9ポイント  (0子コメント)

Yeah..not so much. It is about seeing Clinton, Trump, Cruz in the same box of establishment political say anything asshats.

I can't take people seriously when they say things like this.

Ronald Reagan was an "establishment political say anything asshat". So was Bill Clinton. So was George W Bush. For that matter, so were Obama, Carter, Nixon, LBJ and both Kennedys. And yet they all had obviously different political impacts. But you're saying that it doesn't matter, because they're all that way?

It definitely matters. And if you're either poor, a minority, or elderly, it matters a lot.
