And this is why Bayern is the best run club in the world.

-injects youth -buys players to fill gaps -board puts football above money making (in turn it makes them money) -won't settle for bs managers who constantly fail

The board can't settle for mediocrity just because money is coming in

Lahm says it was the Dutchman who kickstarted Bayern's recent success at home and abroad.

"He introduced a clearer focus on tactics and our modern style was born."

"He's a real hard worker. it's difficult to go right into the smallest details of tactics but Van Gaal is willing to. Not everyone liked it, but I love tactics, so it was interesting to me."

"Van Gaal would admit to making mistakes here - or maybe not - but he was the right man at the right time for Bayern."

"Louis van Gaal can be credited for implementing a playing philosophy, which made us very successful in the first season,"

All from the same Phillip Lahm.

Bonus: "Many players, including myself, can be very grateful to him," Robben told German magazine Sport-Bild. "For me, he is still one of the best coaches in the world."

Oh absolutely. There is no doubt Lahm credits him for the start of Bayern having a new tactical approach. But it's also made clear by him, as well as others, that it wasn't until Heynckes came in that Bayern truly kicked on.

It's not uncommon for players to be enthralled with new managers, but it seems Lahm definitely knew that van Gaal was restricted in what he could do.
