Definition of a cultural exchange: you will create a thread on your sub and our mods will create a thread on our sub. Both of us will sticky the thread and we will exchange various questions and answers regarding our ways of life and about our country. Here is the big list of all the exchanges that we have done so far. Take a look, you might be surprised by whom we have met before.

The mods of /r/AskAnAmerican and /r/iranian have agreed to a national exchange happening in both subreddits from June 11-18.

If you feel that at the end of the day, this post has negative feedback (i.e. NO), then I wish you all a good day. This thread was to see how the reception is by the people of this subreddit. Vox populi.

P.S. If you are confused as to why there are 2 Iranian subreddits, it's because there was a schism and we split because of mod drama. It is best if we do not talk about it hence it might become a burden on us in the long run. /r/iranian is the subreddit that has been doing the cultural exchanges after the split.

If you believe that this post has enough positive support, then do the following

  1. This is your subreddit and it has it's own rules. The date is far away and the location is in a different subreddit. In order to remind yourselves, discuss on how you plan to remember it. Some mods that I have encountered (and I really mean a lot of mods) have declined to do sticky reminders because it does not go with the rules of their subreddit. Fair.

  2. I encourage you and your fellow statesmen to spread this (x-post) to other subreddits within this state (only). The more Americans we reach, the better. Please share with medium to large subreddits (>1000 subscribers and >6 active users).

  1. This subreddit will take no active part in the exchange. It's only between /r/AskAnAmerican and /r/iranian.

  2. /r/AskAnAmerican is where we come to ask questions - /r/iranian is where you will ask yours.

The mods listened to your proposal and didn't say no because it looked like more discussion was coming, but no one agreed to sticky anything.

I did not ask for a sticky for anything. I just asked for a post on portland. And yes, it's all inclusive. I have no idea where you got the notion of discrimination. I am looking for people interested in asking iranians questions that they have longed to ask no mattef where they are from.

The admins don't care how the mods of individual subs run them, and have better things to worry about.

If you want to advertise your sub, buy an Ad.... like /r/Rubberducks, /r/oldnews, /r/Fixedmovies, /r/needamod, /r/mindpainting and many of the other subs that have stuff in the sidebar. =============>

No. So I did my job by spreading the news.

I'm sure that even in the most unsuspecting subs there are people interested in this event. Right here is an example. this post is not even stickied and it has 11 upvotes (at least). That's 11 people interested unless those upvotes have another meaning to it. We have 20 state subs already onboard.

You may not be interested in Iran at all, but I assure you if you had an exchange with Croatia let's say, you wouldn't have heard about it. Wait, /r/AskAnAmerican did have an exchange with them! Did you hear about it? I doubt it.

Oh the questions you wanted to ask but couldn't. /r/LosAngeles had an exchange with /r/Denmark. Heard it? probably not.

You guys should be vigilant, if not, proactive about things like this. The Socialization between the two nations fuels curiosity and opens boundaries. You have no idea.

To sign it off, we have exchanged with Israel and Saudi Arabia with less than half of the drama that we are having in this sub alone. I have provided the links above, go check.
