I think several people here need to take a step back from politics. I'm not going to call anyone out by name, but there's been some seriously vitriolic sentiment floating around and I feel it's gotten to a point where it needs to be said. I don't want it to become commonplace here because I really enjoy this sub and these kind of comments bring this sub down.

I bet these people might not even realize they're doing it. Being mindful takes constant effort. It's especially easy to rip on someone in the media spotlight because it's easy to forget they're a real person. But putting people down? That's something I just can't take part in.

I don't know. Maybe if the mods want to take this into account I would be willing to give a few examples through PM. Maybe I'll just be all alone on this. Let's see how this thread goes.

    Well, shit. Today is May 4th. May the fourth be with you? Wouldn't today be the perfect day to release THE HORSE AWAKENS!?!?!

    But what do I find when I wake up to finish and bestow my greatest gift to memekind? A mass exodus. The mods built the wall 10 feet higher under our very noses. And they made the non RI submitters pay for it. Who will upvote the memes if everyone is deported?

    I sense a great disturbance in the Horse. As if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened.

        If the market (NYSE) loses like 7% in a day the market shut downs for 15 minutes to allow traders to gather information.

        The cool part is there's an institutional bias in that anyone not on Bloomberg Terminal level Tech is 15 minutes behind the market, and the break exesterbates this bias by not giving a "heads up".

        The second is the "magnet effect". So the closer the price drops to the first "trigger price" the faster it drops. The very existence of a trigger price can cause more volatility because traders are trying to get out before they're locked in.

        So whether it actually makes markets more rational is up for debate.

        Very cool stuff, think it's very relevant to Friedman's point about how a marker failure does not automatically = a government solution.
