Where do you see Martial's position and why? (self.reddevils)

I'm trying to figure out if most see him as a wide forward or a striker but more importantly why.

I sit on the wide forward side, he plays better with space to run into, can create from there, can score from there. It's all good. Middle of the pitch is sometimes too congested to dribble through, even for Martial.

He seems to be better out wide. He creates a lot of problems for defenders when he's coming in. When he's central he gets closed down so quickly.

All that you said and also, that LvG said he isn't too eager to make runs behind defences and as a striker, that's not as great because it limits the passes from midfielders and such and, we also have Rashford/Rooney who can make those runs.

He also seems to be doing better out wide on the left in comparison to up front in the middle anyway.

He can definitely be a false 9.

Playing wide he gets way more chances to run at people and actually using his technical abilities and pace.

I haven't been impressed watching him play centrally, where he is too easy for the opposing team to close down, and his hold up play isn't good enough in my opinion to justify playing him there.
