Manchester United make Van Gaal key figure in season ticket renewal plan

There has been speculation Man Utd are set to replace the Dutchman with Jose Mourinho at the end of the season.

Van Gaal has two big games this week
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is under pressure after a disappointing season.

Louis van Gaal is at the centre of Manchester United’s bid to drive season ticket renewals ahead of next season.

The under-fire Dutchman was left out of the official club video to promote the pre-season tour to China sparking speculation he is set to be axed at the end of the current campaign.

There have been reports former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been lined up to take over, despite Van Gaal having a year left on the three-year contract he signed in 2014.

And in a letter sent to season ticket holders last week ahead of the renewal deadline, Van Gaal featured prominently.

It included a message from the 64-year-old in which he promises to ‘bring success back to this club’.

It read: “There is no doubt in my mind that Manchester United has the best fans in the world, and the relationship between the team and the fans is very special.

“It is utmost ambition to bring success to this club and, for you, the loyal season ticket holders who support the team week in, week out.

“Everyone is working hard to get the club back to where it belongs. Your help along the way has been invaluable and is greatly appreciated by the players.”

Mourinho is still likely to become the next United manager
Jose Mourinho is favourite for the United job if Van Gaal leaves.

The saga surrounding Van Gaal’s future took another twist over the weekend when the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss insisted United fans WILL see him again next year.

He said: “We always knew that the process would take three years. I wanted to sign only for two years. The club wanted me to sign for three years, not me.

“I signed for three years, so next year you will see me again.”
