By the way, they successfully raised the money for Christopher to get the glasses.

I hate the way this world works. Put a sob story and overwhelming donations pour in. 15000 isn't that much, bet she wouldn't have needed donations if it was to get a car. Everyone wants a handout when there are much more deserving and needing people that aren't being plastered all over the Internet, because instead they're trying. If anything the company should have donated them for the advertisement. At least that would have made sense.

People did something nice. Let's just leave it at that, okay?

You're privileged pal, if you think 15k isn't 'that much'. Also consider how much extra she is probably paying in special products for her son already. Factor in it might take her years to save 'that much', which she probably would have tried doing anyway, and that her son's eyes could have deteriorated by that stage rendering the glasses unsuitable.

Yeah, it took a sob story for people to donate, but that's what all charities are. Giving money to those less fortunate, for little in return other than the feeling you made a difference.

She should have just got him the glasses and lost her job because she was lazy and couldn't fix her car or buy a new one. /s

Gotta love when people think those less fortunate are in that position because they're "lazy".

The families stricken with financial struggles that I've met have been the hardest working humans I've ever known. Usually spending 70-80 hour weeks earning money for their kids which still isn't enough to buy them things like toys but is enough to feed and clothe them. Often, there's nothing leftover. But a potentially single mother to a disabled child? Nah, she HAS to be lazy. Nobody without money is anything but lazy according to asshats on the Internet.

To be completely honest I don't think I've ever seen so much privilege in my life. "Just save $15,000" - HA.

Lower-middle class white woman here; grew up driving $800 cars. My whole household annual income is like, 55k and here in NE thats prett good but with just one car, one baby, and a small mortgage there is no finding an extra 15k in the margins. This guy is obviously young and unexpierienced.

I also hate the way this world works but for the exact opposite reason. The kid should have gotten it for free from universal healthcare.
