Lack of a class creative player is the main problem.

Exactly. You can't expect your striker to score 20+ goals a season if he isn't getting many chances during games. Bring in a creative midfielder and a striker and we could arguably challenge for the title as long as it doesn't affect the balance of the team.

It's also partly due to the striker not making those runs and such which was the case for a lot of times in the season. Many crosses and such were not met by anyone as there were no one in the box or even close to it.

Yes, I agree with that which is why when Rashford has played he's scored a few goals because he's willing to make runs in between the channels. Eg. Against West Ham and Man City.

But what I'm saying is we don't have enough creative players to pick these passes at all times.

Yesterday there was an instance where Martial played the ball in from the left to Rashford who then laid it off to Fellaini. Martial made a run inside the 18 yard box and was clearly through, but due to the lack of ability Fellaini has he failed to see the pass and instead switched play the the other wing. A player like Kroos, James Rodriguez etc would've played the pass.

Yeah for sure. That and the tactical setup too. It's no use having the best passer in the world if runs aren't allowed to be made often enough or through passes in favour of retaining the ball.

The system needs to change too and also, those players as you said. All 3 parts need to change for a significant improvement.

Wow, the top scoring team has only 68? That shows just how poor teams have been all-round. Didn't Ancelotti's Chelsea score over 100?

Edit: In fact, looking at that season, we conceded less than we have so far this season and scored twice as many as we have so far. Insane difference.

Rooney was much sharper that season and Rio, Evra, Vidic, Nev/Rafael and VDS were still class

One Zlatan to United please

[–]BertrandRusDave 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

Zlatan wouldn't score as many as he does without the help of world class midfielders like Di Maria and Verratti

Our midfielders should be scoring more, as well as our CBs on set pieces and corners. This would make up a portion of those goals, and having a well performing front three and we could easily have 60-70 goals a season.

I think regardless of who the manager is next season, we will see a new striker come in. My top choice would be Benzema. However, only if he is willing to come to United. If it's a Di Maria situation I wouldn't want him. I know Benzema rejected Fergie, but maybe he would be willing to change his mind now. If not Benzema I would like to buy Higuain. My last option and most ideal would be Harry Kane, but that doesn't look like happening now does it.

I agree, if we get somebody in they need to want to join utd and have a real hunger for goal. I think we may need more than just the one striker though to encorage more competition for places

Benzema? Who's a starter for Madrid, arguably one of the, if not the, top destinations of football, where he's loved and has great links with Ronaldo and such?

And he would suddenly just want to join us, a club rebuilding yet again, with maybe no CL or even a shot at the title as of yet, over staying in sunny madrid?

Benzema

Cause we're Manchester United and we can sign who we want!!!

[–]SuperfyVan Persie 1ポイント2ポイント  (0子コメント)

If only it were still around 2009 or so.... Hopefully we become that good again so we can sign almost whomever we want, even some of the Latin based players then maybe.

Part of it is the striker. But a huge part of it is also the tactics and system limiting our chances. We create so few as it is and have scored less than Bournemouth for one thing.... That's how piss poor our attack really is. For all the possession, we do nothing useful enough with it.

A better striker would help. But it'll eventually hit the ceiling too and stagnate if the system and tactics don't change and allow for more creativity and chances for attackers to take.

Remember Rooney at the start of the season saying "don't worry I'll get 20 goals up front"?
