If someone misunderstands or misrepresents your position, and you're arguing in good faith, the correct response is to explain what your actual position is, and explain how you were misrepresented, not just sneer "Straw maaaan!" and be a sarcastic tool. Can you seriously not see how someone could see what you wrote, and conclude that you don't care about people's privacy?

Your line of reasoning is basically, if people are too "stupid" to protect themselves, then they actually "deserve" to have those rights violated. Not just that they should expect it, but that they deserve it. In other words, in your eyes, it is morally justified, no, morally necessary that their rights are violated.

What about someone who isn't aware of the possibility that their webcam could be accessed by unauthorized sources? Or is aware, but thinks they're secure? Or doesn't know how to secure their webcam, or how to access that information?

You're right, the "So if you leave a window open, you deserve to be robbed?" is a bad analogy. What we're talking about is more like "If you leave a window closed and locked, but didn't install iron bars on your window, you deserve to be robbed. Because you didn't consider the possibility that the robber might jimmy open the lock!" There comes a point where you have to weigh the consequences of relative insecurity against the cost of ensuring extra security. And that reasoning usually takes into account that most people are decent fucking human beings and won't do shit like gun you down in the street for no reason, or go out of their way to hack into a strangers webcam and violate their privacy.

Seriously, if you're actually in favor of the right to privacy, then you should be disgusted by this kind of behavior. I'm so goddamn sick of having to explain this shit to people like you. Just have some fucking empathy. Think about your words before you say them, and stop being a fucking trog.
