While I obviously disagree with some of the political sentiment, the rest of it is very good.

Genuinely curious, what did you disagree with politically? Asking as someone who enjoyed the piece and also felt some sympathy with its politics.

If you are a white male remember all the privilege you have enjoyed since birth just because you were born that way

I'm pretty certain it is that line. Some white dudes disagree with reality

Some white dudes faced reality that was far from any privileges.

Me and my sister were raised by 2 psychopaths who just happened to live a life of constant drug use. My mother was a Violent paranoid schizophrenic, my father a vicious criminal sociopath.

I hate people who tell me to check my privileges for the life I was awarded. These people who grew up poor or saw opportunities passed over them and think I should be happy with the upbringing I was given. Fuck them.

Me and my sister grew up in desolation. We know of anger, agony, starvation, torture, kidnappings, and the sight of death. We know these well because that is all we had growing up. You think I had privileges afforded to me? I was burned half to death and no one gave me help - I was locked in a room by myself after my 3rd kidnapping, id gone through torture and was left to die by burning. I had no privileges.

And people of all shapes and colour have had better and worse upbringing than l. Why do we continue to hold these people to the luck they were afforded? It really makes me angry when someone says that sentence to me.they know nothing and yet judge me? Fuck them

Apologies for the rant. It's a sore spot I'm yet to deal with fully.

Some people smoked all their life and didn't get cancer.

That doesn't change statistics, though.

If you are a white male [...] you have enjoyed

Assuming that the individual matches the aggregate is not statistics, it's bigotry.

You understand that he was talking to an audience, not you personally, so there's no need to be so defensive on the matter.

[–]Pardalean 0ポイント1ポイント  (1子コメント)

How am I being defensive by pointing out a fact?

I'll show you the distinction with an example you can empathize with:

SJWs tend to be fat

vs

If you're an SJW then you're a fat

Whether you're fat or not and whether I'm addressing the whole subreddit or just a specific SJW makes no difference whatsoever.

Also, if the generalisation was about black people you'd be on the other side of the fence, so white privilege must be malfunctioning.

You are being defensive by downvoting and throwing terms like "bigotry" or "SJW tend to be fat", or assuming what side on the fence I would be on this or that.

What's so disturbing to you to admit that it's easier for white males than, say, black females, in the tech industry? It is not saying that all white males had it easy, do you see the nuance?

Yeah, it could be that. But it could be the critique of capitalism (section 7, Know Your Worth). Just didn't want to make assumptions, maybe he can tell us.
