Please explain: devil's anatomy on crest (self.reddevils)

The devil on the crest has always puzzled me. The main thing that throws me off are the blobs on the devil's neck. The on on the right is pointy, and the left one is rounded. Goiters? This is based on my assumption that the devil is looking towards the viewer, but it's also plausible that he's looking to the right. Also the right foot (my right, not his) is sharp at the bottom. Are his deformities a result of the fact that he is flaming, or am I missing something?

I see what your looking at but to be honest I think you may be reading to much into a simple image. I think it is just the way they could make it look the best. I don't think someone designed the devil crest with the intention of giving it a thyroid problem.

It has to be able to be stitched onto a badge. And it had to be able to be stitched onto a badge 100 years ago. That's why it looks the way it does
