about a month ago, soundcloud launched their subscription service Soundcloud GO. They basically tried (in the worst, most convoluted way possible) to add a Spotify-esque streaming element to their site, due to the fact that the site is failing miserably.

When they did this, the accounts of any artist associated with a major label had pretty much their entire discography added to their page, but in a Preview-Only format (and with country restrictions) without them asking. In fact, many artists, DG included, who had previously uploaded entire albums had the uploads automatically changed to Preview-Only. This is why you can't listen to Gvt/NLDW/TPTB on soundcloud anymore, and why andy made that tweet telling soundcloud to fuck off.

When the songs were first found, they were hidden, but not private, and playback was restricted in every country. What this means is DG did not upload them themselves. The songs were automatically added to soundcloud almost a week before the album's release as a preemptive way of making sure everything was ready to go next week. Actually, from that information, we can all but assume that DG still have ties to Harvest, because there's practically no other way the music would've been added automatically the way it was.

tl;dr soundcloud's subscription service adds songs released through certain major labels automatically, so dg still have ties to harvest and weren't the ones that posted the songs, not their fault it leaked.

addendum: it's also fully possible that one of them uploaded the tracks privately to prep for next week themselves and the Soundcloud Go filter caught it, but usually (even if you're the artist in question) uploading it directly would just cause it to be taken down. I'd guess maybe 10% chance that's the case, so I stand by what I think and will take my L if proven wrong lol
